This is a conversation I can get behind. I think I owned a Halo II far before I owned a revvy, and an Egg before that (What a silly hopper, but surprisingly solid) I ended up leaving the revvy in my gearbag regardless of play or game style because it was usually pretty reliable. Now, CFOA mode made it kinda worthless, but I never had issues with just standard recball play back in the day. Totally want one, but not planning on getting back into semi's for a while.

i had a newer spyder TS (ya' know, the one with the two piece barrel, matching feed neck/drop forward/volumizer... and a matte black finish) i used it for a leaner. Very easy to take care of, few o-rings, and all metal right down to the trigger assembly. its was indestructible.
i always ran a JT Revolution hopper and as fast as you could shoot, the hopper kept up.
my buddy liked it so much that he even bought the whole setup from me. played an entire day without a single break. And this guy is 110% energy alllll the time. (I think he's even active when he sleeps). lol i know everyone knows someone like that. you know he was pulling the trigger as humanly possible and still not a single break, chop, double feed or anything.
that hopper - marker combo was a perfect setup. and i have fond memories of that hopper. i had an eggy, VL something or other, and 2 halo's that i could have used but i always went back to the revy.

It's called cocaine. Lol.
I actually wonder if a little bit of marker feedback helps it load faster. I remember rarely having jam issues with a shake and bake gravity loader on my spyder, but it jammed all the time on my mag.
Like, maybe the marker vibration coupled with the spinning paddles increase performance to some degree.
I don't want to say Spyders kick, but you know what I mean by vibration and feedback.

there are slow-mo videos on line of force-feed hoppers and how they bounce the balls in the feedneck. The balls will literally bounce and clip the bottom of the feedneck and cause a break or they will bounce and squish causing the bottom of the next ball in line to get clipped by the bolt. when it drops down, the next ball will smash it.

All hoppers can bounce paint in the breech, especially gravity feed hoppers. There's no force to keep the paint held to the bottom of the breech. Besides, that's only an issue when you start going over 15bps so it's pretty much a non-issue now. The revvy is still fun to use but I wouldn't trade my rotor in for one.

Now I'm feeling a bit like I missed out. My VL2000 was hot stuff when I quit playing in 2000 and when I came back I jumped right into Halos and Rotors.
Good for a chuckle: Last October when I suddenly reappeared after 20 years, I still felt a little embarassed about having a motorized hopper, like I was being "extra," as the kids now say (so I am told). Hoo-boy was I in for a surprise.
The Automag: Not as clumsy or random as an electro. An elegant marker for a more civilised age.

Finally got my hands on a JmJ Vortex again. Even more of an improvement over the Tsunami, which is still a decent paddle for what it is, but the Vortex will always be #1. Tsunami had some popcorning towards the end but the Vortex...none. Don't have the Etha 2 lowers anymore because I don't need to shoot that fast, but the Emek still rips and the Revy pairs perfectly.

I love my revys. No issues i can find. I think my blue one will drain the batteries left in it. Or they just don't last long like i thought or maybe it was just bumped on. Idk.
plus i like any hopper that made clear shells. (Quantum
being the exception)

Like I mentioned to you at the field, those 9Vs should last quite a while. You very well could've just turned it on inadvertently or something. I pop the batts out of my Revvy when I'm not using it to prevent that. Takes a whopping 10 seconds or less to put them back in.

I always leave batteries in and make sure it's turned off. They last forever.
