    If you could go back.

If you could choose any era of paintball to return to or go back to what would it be and or would you?

I think myself as much as I enjoyed playing in late 90s early 2000s, and the fact that generally I still only use equipment that was available back then (and is some cases still using the same equipment I was back then). I wouldn’t want to go back. I happy with where we are. I enjoying playing this year more than many in my past.

We have some really interesting mechanical paintball options (my preference in playing). Our supporting equipments far better. And the overshooting locally seems on a decline. I just wish there were more companies still in the game. Wish paint was a tad better. And wish there was more pump paintball offerings. Oh and I wish I had the physical ability I had back then. (Also wish I had the $$ I had back then, some how having a wife and kids now seems to have made most my expendable funds)

I wish I could go back to when I played 98-04 era but as a older version of myself. Couldn’t afford nice markers and only played regional tournaments and big games.

Playing outlaw ball with friends was awesome but you don't realize it until it's gone

Okay, I came to this thinking, "live in the present ya fool", , but yeah..the outlaw days were a lot of fun, I kinda wish I still had that field, and group, but with my current aresnal, and funding.

‘98 - ‘04ish. Had a group of fairly dedicated guys that played pretty regularly. Those were definitely the good old days.

I would have said late 90's/early 200s as well. I used to miss having my highschool buddies to play with... until this year, most of my paintball playing since then involved going solo which isn't much fun, so I'm happy to have a good group to hit events with now. 🙂

And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Considering that paintball as a game wasn't even created until I was 24, I refuse to accept that I have lasted through "eras". Makes me sound way too old.

Most people will likely say they would want to go back to the era when they just started. Which is the case for me, around 2000/2001 although I had been interested but too chicken to play before that. Then a new kid at school from Cali became my new best friend and he had a bunch of gear and got me hooked. Then from there other friekds got into it, or learned that other people from school were already playing. So late 90's - early 2000's would be my pick - not just for paintball but life in general...aaah, the simple times before the internet was really a thing.
It would also be cool to experience the very early days of full camouflage and pump only games.

I’d like to go back and play in the mid to late 90’s again, but with my current mag collection. They’re a definite upgrade to my high school Tippmann’s. Plus I’d take a boat load of cash and buy some of the things I’ve still never owned, like some really nice Micromags!

I’m pretty happy with my paintball life these days. While my agility is bullshit, my stamina has held up so I’m okay with the age. I’ve said this before, playing outlaw illegally was objectively more fun. Being 35 and playing outlaw in a huge area we have permission to use is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but being 14 and playing at the dump with the constant threat of having to scatter-run cause of Authorities just hit so sweetly.

I wish I had gotten into pump when I was younger, I loved shooting my Talon, but pump was a novelty to me back then 😑

Probably about 2006. 7-man tournaments were awesome fun, though I don't think I could deal with the BS of uncapped electro semi again.

I’d say late 80s/early 90s. Semis were still unreliable garbage and the “tournament” Nelson was peaking. No HPA. Woodsball was assumed. Paint was too expensive to waste.

I'm all about the early 2000's, from 2000 to about 2006-7. It was a cool time when paintball was mainstream enough to be on ESPN occasionally and paintballs and gear were sold off the shelf at Wal-Mart. You could get CO2 filled almost everywhere. Outlaw woodsball was a weekly occurrence, not a crime.

Late 90's for me too. All the bugs had been worked out on Cockers/Mags/Spyders. They were solid, reliable, fun paintball guns to play with. Paint was good. Fields were packed. Local pro-shops were still a thing. Good times.

Hmmm, that is pretty hard. I loved the late 80s - mid 90s and played pretty much every weekend I was not on a deterrent patrol. I was single, had money and no responsibilities beyond myself and Uncle Sam. I played every type of venue available back then from playing outlaw to judging at Lively and IAO. So I had a great paintball life back then and doubt I could have done more so I think I will just say I'll keep those memories.

I guess if I was to go back it would be to play more scenarios during the hay day of the late 90s - the 2000s. I played a lot of them in the South East but would have liked to take advantage of playing some of the other big venues.

At the end of the day I guess I'd have to say the late ought's. EMR still had a great turnout and we had lots of passholders. And I managed to get out to almost all the big games for quite a few years. There may have been better era's for paintball in general, but for me those were the days.. Miss you guys, 'specially Harb.
