Played for the first time in 5 years yesterday...

Bought a bunch of gear about 4 weeks ago to get back into playing, tried to play 2 weeks ago, long story short the regulator on my tank failed and blew the macroline and fittings off my pump so I had to get that fixed. Finally got the parts to fix it on Friday and decided on a whim yesterday afternoon to go to a local small indoor field to atleast test the gun and play a few games. I had a blast despite only having 5 rental players to play with, but at least 2 of them had Electo rentals. I definitely prefer woodsball or bigger airball fields, felt like I couldn't really move past the first few bunkers because I didn't want to get too close to the rentals. I had a few other takeaways from playing for the first time in 5 years...
    • I'm not as young and in shape as I used to be, first game and I started cramping. Stretching is important.
    • Take a cooler with cold water and Gatorade with me, maybe some snacks too.
    • I need a smaller bore barrel, the stock .681 barrel on my KP3 is not small enough and I had a ton of rollouts.
    • Valken Fate paint in horrible.
    • I forgot how much I love paintball, wish I never would have quit and sold my stuff to help pay for college (that I ended up dropping out after 2 semesters)
That is all, thanks for listening to me ramble on in my excitement.

Welcome back to the fold. I too stay away from rentals and their n00b germs.

I'm surprised that a .681 is too big still. It doesn't look like they make a smaller one.

Yeah I've been trying to find a good deal on a Freak barrel or a Lurker Eigenbarrel but it doesn't look like Lurker sells them anymore.

Yeah the last few times out I've been using a 679 insert.

    It's getting bad

When I played in 2015 I was using a .678 insert almost every weekend. Paint has gotten so small.

A little sliver of tape in the barrel is a good fix until you find a kit.

If you’ve got the time, a couple dots of nail polish is even better.

That's great! Welcome back. As a 51 year old playing, you need to be ready to hurt the next day (Aleve is your friend, both before and after playing). You should stretch and remember that you are 5 years older. Once you start playing more, it will get easier.

I find Valken paint is pretty small. The field I go to now uses ProShar and I had to upsize from the previous field where I was shooting valken. You will also see Valken isn't as consistent as you would think it should be from case to case.

When I go to the field I take all my gear and a cooler with waters, gatorade and some food and snacks. At least that way I can always know there will be something there if I need it. My field sells stuff but there have been weeks where they didn't have anything and I was glad to have some drinks and food to eat. I take my 37 inch Husky rolling box so I can carry all my gear and the cooler with me all in one shot.

Welcome back. You can try to quit paintball, but you can never truly quit 😈. Paint is all over the place as far as size and quality goes. It sucks. I live in a dry climate and over this last summer I used .685 and .690 backs but in sure I'll be back down to 680 or smaller now that it's cooler.

Oh I know...I almost busted out the 695 because a few balls were not rolling through the 690
