What's your favorite brand of pappy-T?

I'm a Brawny man myself, but Bounty makes a fine T-o'-the-Pap. What's your preferred wipey wipe for cleaning your paintball stuff?

***I know blah blah microfiber for lenses, but IDGAF my lenses get put through far worse than some quilted goodness of the Pap***

I thought this was gonna be another poo thread…

I usually use whatever shirt I was wearing to play in for a gear wipe at the end of the day.

      That is extremely accurate.

I use microfiber rags for everything. They start out as car detailing rags when new then move down to car drying rags then lastly after a couple washes they end up in the gear bag. Once they're all used up I throw them away. Microfibers are cheap through car detailing places so I just keep moving them through the pipeline.

On the goggles I use more of a dab to get the paint off then flip them over and use the clean side to buff the lens clean and clear

Most synthetic micro-fibers are non-absorbent so why they smear over wipe clean. Micro Fibers purposed for car cleaning tend to be absorbent and typically have a more terry cloth texture.

Synthetic microfiber isn't absorbent, at least not with water. Depending on the density of the weave, some tend to pick up the oily PEG residue of paint pretty well though.

I always keep a couple of cotton terry bar rags in my gear bag for any stubborn smears, and in case it rains. Polyester microfiber is bloody useless for drying lenses, or anything else for that matter.

Random rags (old towels, wash clothes and t-shirts) and generic micro-fiber towels bought on clearance are my primary cleaning wiping go to. I do keep a roll of whatever paper towels my wife is currently buying. I am not picky function over form or branding.

Aren't the shop towels fairly rough?

Rougher then TP or Paper Towel, if clean no way.

I can’t stop thinking about this as a Sunny Delight commercial.

          - What do we have to clean our gear with? Shop rags, some kind of microfiber, WHOA PAPPY-T!!!

My first thought was "what the heck is pappy-t? Some new gender slang for fatherhood?"
But no. It's some i-pod distortion of a cleaning rag.

I just use the old socks that come out of the dryer with holes in them.

Jordan Funnily enough I read something the other day that said the reason American English dropped the "U" and some other misc. letters from the traditional spelling is because in early printing days costs were charged by the letter and you know... capitalism? Thought it was interesting, though I didn't check the veracity.

I wipe my stuff off with a cloth or towel and then used Q-Tips & an old toothbrush for the nooks and cranny's.

At home, I often just use the paper towels that we always have in our kitchen: Bounty select-a-size. Especially if I am working on gear inside and not out in the garage. We have a three year old plus three cats, so we always keep a good supply on hand.

In the garage, I've got one of those cardboard box cubes of white Scott shop towels (the kind where you pull them out of a hole in the top center of the box). Those things are great. Soft and clothlike, similar to the blue shop towels, just maybe slightly thinner and not as durable. Too bad the 1'x1'x1' box is a bit too bulky to haul to the field on top of all my other junk.

At the field, I tend to rely on my fluffy microfiber towels and these semi-reusable cleaning rags/wipes from the dollar store (they last a handful of washings then start to disintegrate, which is fine for $1 per 4 pack). I always make sure to include a cotton terrycloth bar mop (rag) or two as well, in case of rain. Microfiber has terrible absorbancy and you'll drive yourself nuts just pushing water around on your lens with them. My field provides a cleaning station with spray bottles of some kind of highly diluted detergent and the cheapest paper towels known to man, but I steer clear and leave that stuff to the renters.

Other than those Scott shop towels, nearly all of my paintball cleaning supplies come from the Dollar Tree. I recently discovered these viscose/polyester blend reusable rags there and I love the things. Thick, tough, and washable, but soft and dirt cheap. What's not to like?

I use Viva selectable size and micro cloths from Harbor Freight.
I think the Scott shop towels would work well too.
I had a Dr. friend give me a bundle of surgical towels once and those are really durable, but a bit rough for the inside of a lens.
I think the Viva is plenty soft and when cleaning barrels, I just use one rectangle wrapped around those wooden sticks with foam glued on the end.

If you're buying white paper towels they need to be viva. They really aren't like any other paper towel. I often don't clean my gear with anything specific, but when we buy paper towels its Viva or nothing.

I have owned Haynes white tee-shirts that aren't as rugged as viva paper towels.

Don’t need it. I go straight into the shower. Oh....for PAINTBALL cleaning. I usually cut up old t-shirts & use them for pretty much everything.
