Unpopular opinion? Training pistols don't hurt?

I ran into an issue for my last game of the day, after a shootout between a guy and myself. He had one of those .43 cal.pistols and got really upset on the walk back, claiming he had hit me. I had seen nothing on my chest or front and the refs were kind of lackluster about checking or listening for paint checks so that might have been the issue too, but, indeed he apparently had actually hit me in the last 10 seconds of the game. Has anyone else had this issue? I legitimately did not feel the hits and it was only until after we were walking up from the field that he pointed out two small marks on shoulder blade. I apologized for the incident, but... Man guys that .43 cal stuff does not really leave a pain response like .68 does, so when he hit me it apparently didn't even make me flinch.

For reference, I had on a tshirt over a thin stretchy athletic shirt. Maybe it was last game of the day adrenaline? I don't know. I felt bad about it but with the refs not paint checking and me not feeling it, I just don't know if the .43 cal pistols are something people should be playing with on recball fields. First time in a long time someone insinuated I was cheating for an honest mistake and it just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

Mag fed players have weird rules and if it was an open field he could of thought a hit was an elimination..... Yes I've encountered that with first strike players at a hard core mag fed event.

Apparently, it some how curved around to hit the back of my shoulder despite us being 30-35 feet from each other trading shots. Considering pump would require me to have my left shoulder out, it's entirely possible that he hit me and I just didn't feel it. There's no real quarter dime nickel size statement rule whatever, usually just large splat, at this field. No ref intervened and it was the last 10 seconds of the game.

There have been many occasions where I have been hit (with break) and I not realized. Even happened in tournament games with a Ref. paint checking me clean to realize after all over I was actually hit and eliminated. It happens, anyone who can not get over that is a whiner. Do your due diligence move forward and be big enough to admit it happened with apology. Then loose no more sleep over it.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. I've felt that way before about stuff but what can you do at this point? You apologized, it's out of your hands. It was an honest mistake and if he can't accept that then it's not your problem. It's his.
I've never been hit with .43 cal paint, so I can't say anything on pain/impact. But it seems like the refs need to get their butts in gear. Did the other guy yell for a paint check? If not, then that one's also on him. EDIT: 10 seconds left is a tight window though... Hmm.

I've been shot and not known it, mainly due to adrenaline. As for if .43 cal pistols should be allowed, I haven't seen very many of them on the fields in WI. They're not common enough to have dedicated rules for. Overall, I'd just chalk this up to an odd experience and move on. It sucks being accused of cheating when it was inadvertent, but it sounds like this one wasn't completely on you & you apologized for an honest mistake. Not much else you can do but move on and learn from it.

Same her, and more than a few time on regular games with questionable ref. ... Also been on the other end; especially with long range FSR player see the paint, but assume it's too far to get shit by the other team or don't see the paint.

.43 call can break and not leave marks, specially when it is not a front direct impact, the baby powder blows around and doesn't stick to the fabric ...

as Grendel said, say sorry to the other guy and move on (which you did), this is a fun entertainment and move on. Nothing to feel bad about ...

.43 probably sucks (wouldn’t know) and likely is part of the problem but it in general pain is not the only way of knowing you’ve been hit. The refs, the target, and the shooter all agree via the paint when someone is out. The shooter should have asked the ref, the ref should have already seen it, and the target should be paint checking themselves from likely directions while playing.

That being said, stuff happens, I wouldn’t worry about. I once accidentally ignored a hit AND shot out my own teammate in the same game, people still play with me.

Man, I tried to get my hands on like 6 of those pistols a few years back. I figured on those days when the family/team doesn't have the time or money to go play at the field, we could just bring those out and play in the backyard. Just need a mask and nothing else really. I got one in a lot of gear and I really enjoyed working on it it was a cool little marker. But when I went looking for more, people were asking 100 and 150 for them and I couldn't find spare mags for under $20. Getting 6 and mags was going to cost me close to $1k

It's odd to me that they made those 43 and not 50cal. I think they have some legit market at 50. No field around me carries 43 paint.

But anyway back to the topic, it's happened to me as well. Elbow got me.

Also on the right side of my hopper, Oregon supergame ref was on top of that one though, I'm in the middle of the woods and ref sees the hit as I'm moving bunkers. Great staff they have there

I've had this happen to me too. Can't hear it or feel it. If it isn't on bare skin at close range or a goggle shit, good luck .43 cal player.

Happens, don’t sweat it. You got to almost got to expect it shooting those novelty rounds. Mag fed guys are always arguing or who shot who first with those things. Imagine Trying to get someone to call there shot covered in plate armor and vests shooting those little rounds. Even the 50cal are pretty novelty.

We've played with those .43 cal training pistols in our Expandables group, and they are a blast just amongst ourselves, but I don't think they should have a place in general play for all the aforementioned reasons. If you carry one you've got to accept the limitations and live with the fact that your hits are frequently going to bounce and stand a likelihood of being honestly missed even if they do break.

I can, however, testify that a shot to the dome will break AND will still ring your bell

A thought just occurred to me, the rules for a hit on most fields is a quarter or nickel size splat for questionable hits. Does a .43 cal even make a splat that big? Goggle hits should obviously count but I could easily see lots of people seeing a tiny dot and not registering as a hit because it isn't according to the rules written.

Never been hit with .43 cal, but I could easily imagine getting hit and honestly shrugging it off as just splatter and/or shell fragments from a ball that clipped the edge of a bunker.
