    I haven't played in about a year.....

I have been down to the field around 4-5 times the past year and just wasn't feeling it. Recently sold my entire gear bag aside from one spare parts mag to Superman. I kept a classic mag, CO2 tank, and a revi. I went out today and the mag (surprisingly) let me down a bit. I just don't recall them hating CO2 this much...but anyway with the crowd that was there, having a half disabled marker that wouldn't shoot twice the same way was about as good as it could have gotten. I had a BLAST.

Don't ask me tomorrow when the sore sets in, but why would anyone want to NOT play this sport? Lol.

The last game of the day the mag finally succumbed to the co2 and was loaned a GTek. What a nice shooter those are. I actually had a very brief moment of being a small portion of the player I once was. It was awesome. I hope that I don't forget this over the few days of sore and trip to the chiro I will need.

I get out to play more than the stretch you've been away but after each time it's a number of days dealing with the soreness.

To be fair, if I had a nice recently re-ringed expansion chamber would be REALLY nice. I have the angled asa (with AGD logo on side) which I think is an ACI? It is piped into the foregrip with the long VASA that TASO made. It's all open on the inside, but something. In spite of the nice 70* temps I was just hogging through CO2. I am thinking there is another issue at play but have to troubleshoot that.
I also kept a T stock with gas through and a remote line and have an old pack with the +1 setup that I can try to see what happens.

I ran almost this exact setup on another marker for a couple of years, the only difference being what I have now is the composite single frame and that time had an intelliframe/X frame.

my understanding of the automag is that its operating pressure was below the lower limits of cold co2 output pressure, making it less sensitive to temperature sensitive gaseous co2, but the mag was still prone to issues with liquid co2 , and thus you see a lot of older mags outfitted with expansion chambers. I think if you could rule out liquid co2 problem by adding an ex chamber, that would help. And if you decide ultimately to just switch to HPA for this mag, now you have a nice foregrip for the gun!

This might not be the most popular opinion, but I don't think the Automag is a great gun for co2. In fact the reason I started running a remote in the first place was that the automag wasn't the best on it. Don't get me wrong, the remote, expansion chamber, gas-thru-stock, and gloves to handle it while cold did make it into a very good playable marker but it could still "freeze" and leak under very heavy fire. It also wouldn't be consistent at a certain point. Once it heated back up though, it always got back working right for me.

That was part of the reason back in the day that I started using a shocker, it just seemed so much more resistant to "freezing" when shooting a bunch. Though it could go through more co2 in a single game than my mag did in 5 lol. Now that I just play rec ball and I am not a back player though, I honestly doubt any gun would give too much trouble on co2 as it seemed that trying to shoot a case in a single game is really where it would all fall apart.

No, I think the vast majority of us would agreed. Stock mags, CO2, not super great.

Agreed. I was gifted a Mag from a local gentleman years ago. I remember him running co2 through it, with that skinny micro line no less. Hissed with co2, worked great with HPA.

            HPA is best for Mags.

I am pretty sure it was a driving force in the effort Tom took to being HPA to everyone. Just the same, going to play around with it a bit and see if I can create a happy medium. It's worked before, it can again (or I just end up buying an HPA tank again)
