Tons of the ones coming up for sale around Windsor said they bought them for self defense. Makes sense, Windsor and Essex have a very high crime rate. Pretty much anything conceivable for home defense is illegal up here, so people are trying to think outside of the box for options. I was out in Alberta a few months ago, up near gp. I talked to a store owner there and he said he had a number of people coming in and asking about LL options but he usually turned them away. Back the beginning of summer there was a guy in st Catherine's selling a hdr 50 with half inch ball bearings. Looking into it, that's apparently a think from Germany, and there are German guys on eBay selling them specifically for that purpose. So the home defense idea isn't too far out there I don't think.
A large number of what you see for sale is simply people who want to be larpers and bought a gun but then decided to do airsoft. I've bought a lot of guns from those kind of folk.
A few also bought a bunch of larper junk then got laid off or let go.
The tmc is a pretty good gun, the only real strike against it is that it's not as consistent as other guns. I'd argue that tmc mags are the best option for round ball right now, but I've tried everything except dam mags so that's not a fully fleshed out thought.
