Yesterday I hosted a woodsball game and brought all my loaner gear for those who don’t have their own (which until just this last week, is pretty much everyone in my social circle).
I had planned the game weeks ago, but after a recent memorial service for a church member recently who died of complications from cancer, I decided to make the entire event free. She was a huge inspiration in how she selflessly gave to the church, community, and her workplace, so I wanted to remember her by emulating her giving spirit.
Free of charge I provided gear, camo jackets, paint, air, troubleshooting, reffing, game and general play rules, and coaching for new players. There were a few who had never played before, including one who was born with a malformed hand. He one-balled me in the second round, and I could tell he was hooked. Others had played but had a poor prior experience (either poorly coordinated games or physically painful experiences). Everyone came away smiling, looking forward to the next event. Even those who were wary of trying paintball again were gushing about next time.
After a day like yesterday, after giving so much away, I feel like my life is fuller.
Just thought I’d share 😊
