Quick! How do I seal brass

I'm in the middle of a project right now dealing with polishing some brass and realized I'm not sure what to do to seal it after I polish it so it doesn't oxidize again any tips

Nothing ... Just keep polishing it ...

Or use lacquer if you really want to use something, but don't let paint stay on it (I'll digg up the one I used with good success in the past)

Really, I thought you had to oil it or something

Nope nothing will seal brass as far as I know. I'm a Navy Vet. and we had brass all over the place we had to polish and trust me we tried everything to maintain the polish. Clear "paints/lacquers" work but do not hold up to any wear and tear and look worse until you fully strip and re-polish. Music instruments are coated with Lacquer but require a lot of cleaning prior to application.

Cerakote does make a clear that I have though might be useable but it is not truly gloss so might not give you the shine.

Can’t you clear powder coat it? Or even clear spray paint?

There’s a reason I let my brass patina. After the initial polish I can’t be bothered to reapply elbow grease after every trip to the field.

I've tried a few coats of carnuba wax before... it kinda helped briefly.

I really think cerakote has potential.

It still needs to be prepped before spraying so its also going to have more of a dust finish to it.

There's nothing I know of that will keep the polish. My preferred method is to polish once, enjoy it for a short time and forget about the finish.

I'd be curious if some of the newer ceramic coatings for cars would work. But if they do t i assume they are difficult to remove.

Ceramics I bet would have good potential.
