    Big boy masks

Ok, have a friend getting back into the sport. He is a bit if a big boy, 6-3 250ish. I am not the same size. He is also in an area that does not have any shops so buying online.

Anyone with a larger face, what mask do you prefer?

I have a large head. Masks like Profilers, Grills, E-vent/E-Flex and Spectras work well. Dye I4s are tiny and JT F8s weren’t great. Never tried on any of the newer generations of masks.

too bad he cannot get out to an actual store.......buying a new Mask is one area of Paintball where it would be really beneficial to try on the Equipment.

I'll concur with using something with the helix lense.

Virtue Vio Extend or Carbon Zeros if your friend has a prominent jawline. I’ve got Proflexes and a Profiler and enough of my jawline is exposed with those to be noticeable. More so with the Profiler. Your friend can also order from a seller on Amazon that offers free returns if he really wants to try some on.

I'm also a big fella 6'4" and 330lbs. I've worn the same JT X-Fire mask since 1996 and I'm happy with it. You do see them used on eBay along with thermal lenses. The last time I played the guy I went with showed me his goggle system with really easy to switch lenses, which is a huge improvement over old JT Elite lens tabs, so I was thinking of a new mask.

Last night I stumbled across someone's thread from January this year. I did post in it, but for some reason it does not show up in my history. The guy who started that thread has Uncle Buck (John Candy) as his pic. As Miso mentioned, CRBN Zero with "More Coverage" seems to be a good suggestion https://crbnpaintball.com/collection...42352587473144 Someone in that thread said they were getting a pair and I asked how they fit. No idea why that post isn't showing up in my history.

Proflex X are on the larger side and offer quick change lenses.

I have a pumpkin head and I wear Proflex masks. The frames on the newer masks don’t fit my head the same. I’m not sure what it is about them because they use the same lenses but the new frames fit a lot tighter on the sides and don’t sit tight against the bridge of my nose. It’s to the point that I’m going to be looking for older frames to use with new bottoms.

Push with a chin extender----that last part is an absolute must. Then you have good coverage

I looked at these (only online) and the chin extender didn't look like it covered much more than the stock mask. My guess was an additional 1cm around the jawline. Is it really worth it?

Covers a lot more. My chin would get shot in the stock mask. I can open mouth yell in them with a chin extender and have coverage. It's a whole lot more than a CM on there. I would guess 3/4" to 1" of extra length.

Thank you. It really looks smaller in the pictures, so I'm happy you confirmed it isn't. Push will go on my list now too.

Grillz on the cheaper end, but I absolutely LOVE my Carbon Zero mask. I have the "more coverage" one and it covers a lot more compared to an I4/I5.

Something I didn't see when skimming this thread: mouth shots. I know Proflexes & E-Flexes are nice (have owned both), but I went away from them purely because I get busted in the chops too many times to ignore it.

I have a large head & I use older JT Proshields/Spectras. For someone who is getting back into the sport or may just play occasionally the Proshield is about all you'd need. They breathe well enough, the ears don't sit directly on the sides of your head (ear shots hurt) and they're inexpensive. Just be aware the newer style doesn't have the rear jaw coverage of the older style, as it is slightly more tapered like the Proflex. Nowadays it's basically a hard Proflex.

I actually don't like the newer V-Force masks. The mask part is comfortable enough, but the straps they come with seem shorter than the older ones. If I bought a brand new one I'd have to replace the strap immediately. Something to consider. As it was stated earlier: if you can, try before you buy.
