Wikipedia is deleting a lot of Paintball related items

Yesterday I was informed by a reddit member that the wikipedia entry for PGP and Bob Long Intimidator were scheduled for deletion. I had never really paid attention to wikipedia paintball since it was normally just very basic info. Well apparently there was a Project Paintball group that got together and wrote down a lot of info about markers and other items. I think it is good info and do not want it to get lost so i am trying to save it. If you see a lot of posts from me about this please respond here if you want to discuss the wikipedia issue or there for discussion about the articles.
I am finding a lot of the info on the wikiproject Paintball page here.

Why all the paintball wiki purges?

It would seem that the group that built paintball into wikipedia (WikiProject Paintball) has gone idle I am not sure if they just got tired of fighting the good fight or what there reason's were but I do not want to just give up the info or rely on the wayback machine to hold the info.

It would also seem that the New Zealand user Ajf773 finds all paintball info to be promotional and without evidence or credibility..

This is why I am glad MCB exists. It’s all too easy to lost the history of our sport. MCB, despite some setbacks, has been an oasis of knowledge especially on older markers and gear and hopefully continues.

So call me curmudgeonly, and also, I get that it's kind of stupid to delete knowledge from the purported knowledge repository of the earth, but some of those certainly should not be Wikipedia articles. There should be a paintball wiki on one of the various wiki sites around.

So, to go a little deeper on this issue, and with the caveat that I have only ever dabbled in wikipedia editing, it seems the problem is paintball in general lacks many reliable sources. I believe print magazines do count as reliable sources but paintball has no digital-era ones currently remaining, so citations are difficult. However you can indeed cite print sources, and all it should take is someone to do it and save these articles. A big problem, however, is that most of these articles are poorly written from the ground up and would require significant rewriting.

Considering how the articles from print magazines were basically just promotions I'm not sure they would be much better.

Christ I'm in the rabbit hole. Autococker is a semi robust page that does not seem to be in danger of deletion, and has survived a deletion vote. It's honestly kind of sad. I would suggest bringing it up in the Intimidator deletion thread but that motherfucker might try to get it deleted as well.

No, not in the slightest, especially since the user in question isn't from the US. He IS from a very restrictive country but he just seems like an apparently typical wikipedia asshole editor, the other pages he trolls are stuff like rail line names and numbers. Can you imagine what kind of a person does that?

Folks a couple more good contributors could really turn this thing. There are plenty of references out there, just need to cite them. In any event take the time to vote on the deletion votes.
