Congrats on 25! I'm glad that after discovering TWB in 2004 I was finally able to make a purchase from you!

And it blew my mind that I placed it in the wee hours of a Friday morning and had it at my door by Monday.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen! There have certainly been some slips, slides and near-misses along the way, and it's worth noting that trying to do what I'm doing, in this backwater with literally nearly zero manufacturing resources or infrastructure, was a particularly poor choice. But, as they say, you play the cards you're dealt, and I've been trying to make the best of it.

And I hope you all stick around, I have lots more on the way! 😁

              Doc.

-As in what was my favorite machine 15 years ago, versus what is it today?

Tough question. I'm afflicted with an incurable malady commonly known as Old Iron Disease. The most common symptoms are the irresistible desire to obtain old machine tools that are worn, damaged or abandoned, and refurbish them into working order.

Whether or not you actually need them.

Many of you suffer from a milder form of this syndrome, typically referred to Old Marker Disease. (I have that, too. I'm also a carrier, so watch out. )

As such, I have generally enjoyed all of my machines, especially being able to take a wreck that nearly anyone else would have hauled to the scrapyard, restore it, and actually cut a chip with it again. (Prime example, my big Springfield lathe. Here's where it started, and here it is today.)

Overall favorites? The big Grizzly (a bolt-for-bolt clone of a Bridgeport) and the 10x56 Sheldon are my workhorses. Anything one-off, and even a lot of the short production comes off of, or at least passes through, one or both of those. The big turret is probably the most fun to operate, watching everything ratchet into place, automatically feed and automatically stop- and all 100% mechanical, and all designed in the 1930s.

That said, despite getting into the CNCs about 20 years too late, I still find those endlessly fascinating to watch.

              Doc.

As someone who had a brief fling with paintball as a teenager and returned to the fold in my late 20's, it's been an utter treat to discover your work. Congrats on the milestone!

Congrats on 25! I think my oldest memories were seeing your early work on the WARPIG forums. Your work was great even back then!
