The industry does not care about your experience, it only cares about your money.

Paint companies can sell fields the worst paint and only the field would shoulder the burden of blame

So numbers are funny. Rounding up, wouldn't anything over .675 and under .685 still technically be .68 caliber? The old days of .689 paint, that's basically .69 caliber (giggety)

I recently ran into a practical problem beyond the standard old gun problems of "rollout". My woodstalker Ion cannot use a .675 insert without the Deadlywind HollowPoint Bolt getting stuck in the insert. The .675 insert is a 1 size underbore (relative to blow-through) for the paint that Pevs sold me a month or so ago. IIRC, their field paint is a special blend of GI Sportz.

I haven't compared bolt diameters but, I don't think my DFender suffers from this as the bolt doesn't enter the breach end of the barrel.

Happens with a few markers that the bolt enters the barrel bore on. Have you tried running an extra thick barrel oring? Or double them up.

I'm not too worried about fixing it (unless paint continues to get even smaller). There's a similar fix in place for my FN303 to use Autococker barrels, a metal band that goes against the shoulder of the barrel thread and, prevents the barrel from screwing in too far.

I've found the best thing for modernly small paint is the OG fingernail polish trick. Old markers and their barrels can still be used and rollouts are eliminated, and it's reversible.

            Didn't they already go bankrupt?

“Already?” I don’t know if they went bankrupt but it would be more like “finally” in my book. I think they went for several years without putting out any products before fading from all conversation.

It's never anything but hot and humid where I play, but since starting back, I have yet to use anything but my .679 insert. Used to be, I couldn't even try to bore match because I'd end up having breaks an hour or two into the day because the shells were swelling due to the heat. While tiny, the GI paint my field carries at least seems to tolerate the heat reasonably well.

As mentioned before, the "industry" probably isn't worried about our opinions, since most players aren't using guns that suffer noticeably from small or inconsistent paint sizes. The only possible way to maybe get a company to do anything differently is to make a ton of noise on other platforms, and to field owners who may eventually pass the discontent back to their suppliers. Not likely though, since there would have to be a TON of continuous complaint and a visible dip in revenue for any manufacturer to care.

The last couple of times I played at GRC the field paint was called Prestige. It had a made in China sticker on the box. It was around .684 in size, probably the most round I've seen a paintball in 20 years. It also flew very straight was more than happy with it. Kinda wish my local field would switch to it
