I'd be interested in seeing how the trapdoor works.
And God turned to Gabriel and said: “I shall create a land called Canada of outstanding natural beauty, with majestic mountains soaring with eagles, sparkling lakes abundant with bass and trout, forests full of elk and moose, and rivers stocked with salmon. I shall make the land rich in oil so the inhabitants prosper and call them Canadians, and they shall be praised as the friendliest of all people.”

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them."

Very cool! I have one of mine working but I have yet to actually shoot more than a few shots with it.

What did you use for the back cap in the breech to hold it in place? I see a spot for a couple of pins to engage it but I have a second one I'm building that I need to source those parts.

This included two pins, you could probably trim a sewing pin to do the job

I remember in the early days of Alien, Jack Rice had a thread on PBN where he talked about his daily production, and development issues.
I had mentioned the phoenix gun, and how its patents would affect the marketability of the Alien Revelation. He told me straight-up that he had never heard of the gun.

Fast forward a couple years and the Alien Revelation is never really released. Instead, Alien Paintball released more traditional designs. My understanding was they started production, but abruptly halted.
So maybe due to the phoenix patents.... maybe due to the design having issues (ie different size paint). I've heard rumors of both.

I guess technically, the splatmaster and GZ1000 are also trap-door guns.

Hell, I had never heard of the gun until your post. I just had to make a stop at Vintage Rex.

I know the guy that designed the phoenix was very litigious. He sued a variety of companies due to his phoenix patent. Not for the trap door system, but for its regulator.

”No Hot Shotz” copied it, and then sold a version to Sheridan as the pg1. Both the equalizer and unreleased “falcon” used it. As did the ls2000. They were all sued. I remeber Bacci telling me the phoenix guy (Nick?) ended up with a ton of paintball stuff as a result…. Including every falcon made…. Which was all sold to bacci

Lots of behind the scenes drama…. Which was weird because the phoenix itself didn’t last long. The field I worked at actually banned it after the first one to show up kept shooting 400 and causing injuries! I suspect it wasn’t co2 friendly.

lol. The sh1t I remember. Wife’s birthday? No clue

Examples of the Falcon actually exist?

The short story was the Falcon started out as the Montneel Legend. And idea to make a spool-driven Montneel gun, back in 1993, to compete with the automag with was taking over as the main tournament gun. They brought the gun to Gino at NPS, and he wanted exclusive distribution rights. Ironman was going to have a sponsor deal to use it. etc etc. But then Montneel folded, and the deal went bust.

A year later, Montneel started back up, but the designer of the Legend, Marcus Neely, left to start his own company to market his gun. The gun had some issues, and partnered with a guy who also worked on the Pheonix. Basically, they combined the pheonix with the legend to make the falcon. Apparently a great gun. They managed to get a deal with Sheridan. The Pheonix guy found out, sued, etc. "Cease and Desist". end of story.

But a few did exist. There was one at the EMR that I held. Plus, Bacci has a couple. He is like the Noahs Arc of paintball. Couple of everything:
