How to prevent dump pouch bounce?

Any ideas or is it just part of mag fed?

    #2
Just curious do you mean the bounce from when you are running and the empty mags are bouncing around in the pouch, or are you talking about when you are in a hurry and try to throw the mag into your pouch and it hits the top or bottom of the pouch and bounces out?

Ah, yes, I should have been more specific. I’m
referring to running around with empty mags in the pouch and them swinging/bouncing around.

I guess it depends on your pouch. Some have an elastic cord that allows you to tighten the pouch body.
Now as far as the pouch itself swinging around, I'd think having it on a chest rig vs a belt(if that's how it's carried) would help with that.

I only ever used my dump pouch in hot situations otherwise I put my mags back in their pouches...... ironically because the same reason.

Firstly, I do not run, by law and by nature. Secondly, If I were to move briskly, say falling down a hill, the dump bag is the least of my worries of things bouncing around.

If it is not strapped to your leg, it will bounce when it hits your leg.
Try a heavier canvas type pouch that attaches at two points to your belt, the wider the better.
Try to make it as shallow as possible to reduce the pendulum effect.
Try a dangler pouch attached to your chest rig as a placard, or offset under your armpit.

try attaching it to a different side of your body.
or have the wife sew another strap to the bottom so you have an additional attachment point

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I’ve incorporated or tried some/most of them. I’ll try to get pics of my rig up later for constructive criticism.

In a very minimal test case, the carbon pack and you slide them back in empty. Prevents bounce and requires very little gear. Not quite as easy as a dump pouch.

I don't use the carbon belt, I attached them to a different molle belt.

                        -Condor Rapid Assault Chest Rig
—I can get 4 mags in this. 6 mags across is too wide for my chest, and they get extremely difficult to pull out.
—Cardboard is to keep the pockets stretched out after washing

-2 — 3-mag molle pouches added to front
—I can get 6 mags in these. Since they’re further away from my chest, and with only 4 mags behind them, they “wrap” better.

                        -Dual overlapped, angle-mounted dump pouches
                        —Inexpensive cinch backpacks from Amazon
—Key rings attached to chest rig for mounting points
—Carabiners attaching pouches to key rings - quick releases. I was tearing up my fingers just using the key rings.
—Pouch openings held open with glow stick necklaces. Shoe laces and cord locks keep it cinched to maintain shape

I don’t always run all 10 mags or both pouches, but this is worst case scenario. I can get about 6 mags in one pouch before risk of them falling out in most circumstances. Although I did dive hard the other day, and a mag flew out, hitting me in the back of the head.

                        Some things I’ve tried:
                        1. Clipping the two lower, bottom-of-pouch carabiners together. Little to no help.
                        2. Clipping the lower, bottom-of-pouch carabiners to the same points as the upper, bottom-of-pouch carabiners. Helped a bit, but limits pouch capacity, as was expected.
                        3. Clipping the lower, bottom-of-pouch carabiners to cord extended down from outer, lower corners of chest rig. Short of also securing this around each thigh (which I prefer not to do), similar to a drop leg holster, I think this is the best option.
                        4. Mounting more like a backpack. Mouth would fold flat against my back. Couldn’t keep opening high enough to reach. Might try mounting “chutes” over each shoulder. That might look goofy and significantly increase my target size.

I only use my dump pouch in a rush, otherwise I put back into the rig.
If I have down-time I move empty mags back into the rig but different facing. I fond this makes it easier to track mags and quickly to reload.

Thanks all. I’m going to try a mix of putting mags back in chest rig if situation permits and mounting my dump pouches at all 3 possible points of contact (as seen in pics) with the corresponding key rings. Doesn’t give them as much angle, so mags have more potential to fall out, but they’ll sit higher on my back and won’t bounce as much.
