    Shocker SFT with LPR

    So I am interested in running a shocker SFT with an LPR. Has anyone out there done this? Is there a noticeable difference or is it negligible at best? I am looking for an NDZ or Evolve but not sure if they do anything or are overly hard to set up. Anyone with experience let me know.

    Wasn't the Quest basically a shocker with an LPR?

      Kind of, but not really. The bolt sail on the quest is quite a bit larger than the SFT/NXT shocker's, thus requiring a much lower pressure to achieve the force necessary to move the bolt, hence the LPR. The only benefit I see to adding the LPR to a shocker is that it acts like a check valve (IPR mod) and prevents (although not completely) the bolt actuation from starving for air.

      Haven't tested it, but my guess is: you'd only notice at higher ROF when the pressure to the bolt sail can drop off because it's bleeding off into the valve chamber faster than the HPR can recharge.

    It seems like LPRs don't do much for Shocker SFT/NXT. Zdspb.com has a few notes about it and there are a few threads on pbn saying the same thing.

    I don't think they'd be difficult to set up (just set it to the same pressure as the HPR lol) but still not worth the effort unless you had some very particular goals or custom builds to use a different solenoid or were trying to generate super low bolt force or something.

    No it is not hard to setup, gives you more tinkering options, they add weight to the front. It was fun messing around with it. Ultimately I ditched it for ergonomic reasons. I still have it in my super shocker build box, a shocker with every aftermarket "upgrade."

    Negligible performance gain...

    The only thing I ever did that push performance on my sft back in the gun was maximize dwell and the position of the solenoid ports screws the two screws in the back of the body. There was a magic there that if you got those port screws set just perfectly it allowed for maximum flow into the solenoid and you could drop the dwell more than usual.

    Back in the early 2000s I had an sft pulling 8 pods and a hopper from a 6845. Running an HE can and ndz stinger bolt.

      That's an interesting solution, moving the solenoid port screws. You did this to reduce flow for a softer shot?

      No, opposite really. Back in the early nxl days we were more concerned with shots per fill then gun shot feel.

      High flow, low dwells, and less open bolt faces got us the farthest into the tanks of our guns.

      It was a lot of sitting over a Chrono running paint and messing with the screws.... But when you worked at a field that had quiet nights all you could do sometimes was tinker.

      The solenoids on the sfts/nxts/nerve seem to be holding up well. I’ve heard of far fewer markers bricked over bad noids than early PE stuff.

    you can use an ego solenoid using qty (2) 1.6mm x 12mm screws. this would eliminate the upper board and allow you to add a frame from another platform, e.g. ego

        How difficult would it be to modify a standard VASA to accept an LPR for one of these?

          The hardest part is finding a way for the LPR output to feed the solenoid hole under the vasa.
