I definitely prefer to have a sight on my guns, especially if it's a pump or magfed.
I'm partial to Armson OEGs because of their reliability and durability, and I've gotten good results with smaller cheap red dots, but haven't had good luck with the micro-sized ones. The one I tried were made 10 years or so though, before the trend of putting them on pistols, but I found they tended to lose zero or stop working a lot faster than their bigger cousins. Maybe things have improved nowadays.

I generally do not consider sights a very useful thing on a marker but I will say my old tracer came to me with a cheap little scope on it. The thing could never be zeroed properly and always had a notable Kentucky windage to it but once you were used to it it was actually pretty good. Of course this was the days of good quality paint and I usually shot chronic which only rarely rolled out.

I don't think they hurt for pump play, even if the "sight isnt accurate" it at least will help you keep a consistent position when shooting and looking to help make your shots more repeatable.

It didn't really make sense to me until prices started coming down...you can find Burris Fastfire II's for like $120 on eBay and they have a lifetime transferrable warranty. The size and form factor are way more palatable than the big old tube dots I used to use.

That's a bit more money than I typically spend on sights. Except for the Armsons I usually pay $15-$20 for these things.

I put a cheap red dot sight on my slingshot rifle!

This thing is cheap, extremely fun and surprisingly accurate. It shoots steel balls up to .50 caliber (or rocks or anything roundish and solid).

I never use sights while playing, my brain has been hardwired to aim using a visual point a couple inches off the tip for 15 years now.

However when I set them up for shits and giggles I’m amazed how accurate they can be with relatively little setup. That includes crappy clone red dots, the old dye filament ones, ghost rings especially, and even the sights on XEMON’s phantom double feed.

I can see it being a more consistent setup than rawdogging it for some people who need a less imaginary reference point

                I'm rusty... if I don't have a tank or stock I can't aim.

Anyone have dot recommendations? I put an ADCO on one gun and it seems good, but it's big.

I have used for decades an ADCO Mirage red-dot but now keep in my bag a cheap Pinty Red/Green Reflex Site for approximately $25 on Amazon. Made for Airsoft I believe but it works fine , is light, fairly tough for the cost and if it gets broken not a huge deal.

I've had good luck with sights I've bought from Amazon or Ebay carrying the "Westlake" brand. They're made from aluminum and are a good deal better than the old Adco sights from the '90s.

was it the 1" Adco mirage? Its not that big.. I've tried numerous ones over the years and always come back to the Adco. watertight, comes with lense protectors - my oldest one has taken direct hits many times over its 20 year life and still works perfectly. They also seem to have a really wide range of adjustability compared to others- every barrel/paint combo is a little different - sometimes allot different- so learning to adjust it and having allot of range is critical to making it work for you.

So on the opposite end of the spectrum we have this giant red dot. Would totally put this on a scifi build

I’ve been doing allot of thinking and come to the conclusion that red dots are freaking awesome. Regardless of efficiency, or accuracy, they are just plain cool. I do not personally use them right now, but would use/play with one in a heartbeat. I mean come on, freaking lasers man!!! ( I know red dots aren’t lasers, but when I was 11 they might as well have been lasers)

Sights on paintball guns is like having a condom in my wallet when I was 13.

Points for planning ahead but it's really never going to be useful.

I put sights on everything I can. It’s fun. Paintball is supposed to be fun.

Here's an odd one I've been trying to get used to lately- it's a See-All open sight. I saw Manike using one on some of his EMF builds, and once I found a used one for the right price, was tempted to try it for myself. Like an Armson it's unpowered, but the objective lens is totally exposed. I've found it to be fiddly to attach to most picatinny rails and more difficult to pick up the dot (or in this case, triangle and chevron) than my other sights but maybe I just need to get more used to it.

Does anyone else have the shared concern where a red dot shot dead on would trash it? Maybe its just me because I seem to frequently get shot on the feedneck.

I only ever use equipment that im OK with messing up. Would only use a cheap red dot. If it breaks... meh
