Over the last year or so I’ve joined and have become more active on Reddit. I’ve done a few reoccurring themed posts, such as a marker a week, and since the start of December I have been posting some marker shooting videos mainly consisting of video had just sent to Jimmydee. The videos got decent reception and get between 30-100 likes, nothing major or anything at all. In playing around with Reddit a little more I found the “Post Insights” which gives you views over the first 45 days on Reddit. I had really surprised by this, and what information I l learned.
So in December I posted 24 shooting videos of various quality. My highest view count was 31.5k views and my lowest was 4.1k views. What I find the most interesting was the markers that receive the high views.
Automags in general take the top spot, with my highest viewed video being the warpfed automag. My magfed mag was came it at 23.7k l, beat out very surprising it my Evil Omen which has 26.4K views. My Tippmann C3 had 17k views.
Autocockers and pumps were fairly consistent in the 6k range, including a CCM T2. And most electros hit the 6-8k range. The marker that garnered the least interest? The Palmerized PMI-II, just 4.1k.
Also what I thought was odd was some of the mundane markers like the Empire Mini had 10.1k, a Azodin KP at 7.2k views, well above the pumps and Autococker.
I’m honestly surprised the pumps and cocker didn’t have more views. They are more interesting to watch shoot with the moving parts at least. The Omen I understand as many people were thrilled to see an actual working marker.
Demographics of Reddit may also come into play, as older markers were less popular than middle aged markers. I’ll have to post some shooting videos of some newer markers and see what the response is. I do own the odd marker that was made in the last decade.
