There was a pump documentary filmed by JoeyBatts a number of years back that features a lot of older MCB members that YouTube decided to take down recently... It took some time but we got that video uploaded to Vimeo and because of that I was able to upload it to YouTube again here are the links

I'm not surprised it got pulled. YouTube is notorious for pulling videos for copyright issues. The Smashing Pumpkins intro is probably what did it.

I didn't really start playing pump regularly until around 2009, but still lots of familiar faces!

What is messed up is they pulled it after being on there for 12 years without an issue...it's a little ridiculous

I haven't seen this before but I am always happy to see some love for the pump guys.

My only gripe is anytime there is a pump video where someone is talking about the differences in pump vs semi is that they always try to make the pump guys sound so disadvantaged. All the "1bps" and "you only have one shot so it has to count" stuff just seems silly to me. Even playing stock class, a good player can shoot way faster than that. Heck, I have even seen stock class markers shoot at 2bps and open class is a whole different story.

I wish more people talked about other aspects of pump that keep it competitive. For example, when I am playing open class I may be shooting 3bps against an electro shooting 10bps but almost every time my 1st, 2nd and 3rd shot are going to be a lot closer than the guy who only knows how to pull a trigger. This obviously isn't always true for the few good electro players that actually practice, but I think the essence of pump is that it makes you more aware of where you are shooting which is a huge advantage in my mind, and as I tell many of the electro kids that try to shoot the bunker in front of me until it surrenders, I only have to hit them once.

Yes, I agree totally. I find it annoying when people talk of pumps as a handicap. Like I’m playing with lead weights on my arms and legs just for the extra test of skill...please.

Part of it is how long I’ve been playing. When I got into paintball semis basically sucked. Myself and most of my friends far preferred a Bushmaster to a SMG60 or early Cocker and any sane person would. Those old semis were JUNK in a game after game situation. They were semi but the ROF wasn’t amazing. They broke paint, hogged air, and always...needed something.

Obviously as time as gone on there eventually came to be very solid, basically perfect semis but I never stopped playing pump and to be honest it’s never a problem...especially now that speedball seems to be dead in my area. Worst thing to happen to paintball ever, blow up fields the size of my backyard with nothing to lean on...I hate speedball.

I think the people who do both and refer to their Sniper or Phantom as a handicap started out with semi. I’ve for sure been overpowered and overshot but never have I found myself saying, “Oh no, I’ve gone and paintballed my poor self into a corner and all I have is this little pump, what am I going to do!?!” I stand up and shoot back and either I hit the guy or I’m out. The more time you spend not hiding behind something the more you know about where everyone is.

Also, I agree the rate of fire thing is apples to oranges when you’re genuinely aiming and the other guy is using tracer fire to walk his stream of paint into you.

When I started playing paintball in “91” ,I had a cocking splat master,and managed to get eliminations.So after 2 weekends I bought a gun.semi of course,I was routinely taking out guys with pumps,and thought I would never use a pump.After 15 years and a bunch of faster guns,my friend asked me to try playing pump. I said your crazy,I just built my nxt shocker all maxed out,and why would I want to play pump.Well eventually he convinced me to buy a phantom,and the first day was a rough one,and kept saying I’m going to get my shocker.I stuck it out and had my moment of clarity as me and my friend held an entire right fiield side with pumps.I realized that a well placed shot is all one needs to stop advancing players ,prove how well a player one is,and strike the fear into another player.This also challenges oneself to be a better player and not relie on firepower to achieve your objective.pump players understand this and Are comfortable in this challenge.There is no greater reward in this sport than being that jedi with a sword against all those blasters,lol.As the video stated,it’s all about having fun.So pick your gun,and play respectfully and try pump sometime if you haven’t.
