    MacDev GTX

Along with DLX and SP, MacDev has decided to join the ranks of Gamma copiers:

Planet Eclipse not bothering to patent the gamma core is the most big brain play this industry has ever had.

I agree... This is how the sport used to be before SP ruined it.

On the shoulders of giants. I don't own one (in any form), but I'm always happy to see progress.

Why would MacDev go with a gamma core when they already had an engine train peopled really like. So many people said they had some of the smoothest trains ever.

Because the Gamma is a problem solver, both functionally and from a cost perspective.

Mechanically actuating the Infinity Drive requires a complex, expensive to produce mech valve. Mechanically actuating a Gamma is cheap and easy because of the self-timing nature of the sequencing. The electronic solenoid is also cheaper to manufacture in a Gamma-style system, and the routing is simpler since it's rear-actuated.

But yes, both the Infinity and older, balanced GT spools are solid systems. I suspect the balanced spool will die with the GT2 but I won't be surprised to see the Infinity live on in a mid-level marker.

I was intrigued until they said it had a LiPo battery.

Yeah - that was introduced with the XDR and it remained with the GT2. I suspected this would continue with it, which is disappointing. I'd much rather seem them move to foregrip-mounted AA's.

Now if only they would back off on their cure bolt patent so more guns could actually handle the tiny paint.

I like that they’re making a mech frame for it. If I didn’t already have a 170R with mech frame I’d probably be in the market for one of these eventually, because I suspect the ergos are better.

Do we know what version of gamma the GTX uses?

does it have anything unique or is it a straight copy?

            I love my GT2!
