John Dresser (PBN) is now marketing manager at Kore

Congrats to him, but I can't help but think this is yet another example of a paintball person being hired to a role that would be better filled by a seasoned marketing exec. He's overseen what, the growth and steady decline of PBN? I sometimes think players in these roles is part of the reason paintball is where it is. It's the biggest marketing role in the industry, you'd expect it to be a $150k+ C-Suite job. That said I have no idea what he's being paid.

Maybe it's tricky to hire good ones willing to work in PB. I'm a marketing lead and there's no way in hell I'd have taken the role so, more power to John I guess. I hope he does well.

While I don't disagree with you, to be fair to John, forums on the whole are dead and dying and CrowdGather/VerticalScope aren't exactly known for their outstanding forum management.

He'll do well enough until Richmond decides to bilk KORE's investors out of millions and "restructure" it.

He was let go from Vertical Scope fairly early in the pandemic, although he is still an Admin on the forums. He was still able to sell his remaining PbN merch, and started his own PBRetro brand that has done fairly well. He will bring some good ideas to the table if they let him, hopefully he isn't just stuck being a spin doctor or Ad placer. He understands the importance of new players, quality paint, and he loves mech paintball.

i hope that he brings his knowledge of what real players want and need to a company that is able to provide that

like just look at pants.. 400 different versions, and i have to pay to have mine custom made, because every main manufacturer stopped making pants with inseams longer than 32" (unless i want a 46" waist)

masks that aren't overly complicated and sell for a reasonable price, a small motorized hopper, a decent "middle of the road" hopper thats sub $100.. Aftermarket RUBBER GRIPS (notice i am naming things that they used to control the market on, the things that made them into the monster they are now)

there are gaps that have been left from all the mergers and profit maximization strategies from all the companies that have attempted to fill that gap, its left some areas woefully under-represented since they left.. if they can just bring that area back i still see that doing more good than harm..

I suppose I wonder what their real goal is. Obviously everyone public facing will talk about how Kore is there to grow PB and yada yada, but when you look at their shell company esque asset writeoff model you have to wonder whether PB itself is much more than a convenient front for other ways to make money. It's all about status quo, and hiring a longtime baller who likes retro stuff is about as status quo as it gets.

That's good news for Kore. John's talented and will bring good things to the table.

I don't know what Kore is but if it is associated with paintball John from PBN has had his ear to the ground for the longest time and has great relationships all around so is a great asset to them.

Some bonehead from other marketing areas often results in the mishaps you get from someone who just doesn't get it with paintball.

There's outside marketing and there's good outside marketing. A marketing person worth their salary will first do a whole stack of research to properly understand the industry they're getting into. That's literally in the JD under "market research". Monster balls is that... not happening.
