        Curious how these hold up.

        great idea.

these are so simple that it feels bad we’ve been buying freaks for so long.

now not all barrel setups are so easy to make detent rings for but, cockers sure are.

Dummy detents are great, but Freaks still have their place. In this era of shrunken paint having a wee FPS boost can make all the difference, especially for limited paint play.

Worked so-so for me so far. First one I put about 300 through before I lost it. Second one the fingers blew out after like 2 shots and the paint started falling out of the barrel. Gotta play the law of averages I guess!

How do these interact with using a barrel squeegee such as an Exalt Barrel Maid?

If you repeatably bend the fingers 180 deg, I would expect reduced lifespan compared to 0 to 90 deg range.
For me though, the point of the detents and overbore is to reduce brittle paint breakage. So it’s been less of an issue for me so far. I’d consider the detents consumables.

Updated first post with usage suggestion:
I recommend making sure they are clamped solidly between the barrel and breech. If it noodles around because of an oring on the barrel threads or whatever, I think you will see reduced lifespan.

Put a case through it today with some small empire evil (677) and no issues. Definitely run the barrel without an oring, just snug it up every once in a while.

I'm curious if these could be made from something like TPU. Could have a longer lifespan and take the place of the "missing" o-ring from the barrel.
