MacDev 07 Borg and Droid, 2k2 Timmy

I don't need to be collecting... I haven't played yet this year. Trying to get to 4 guns. (Torque, Sentinel, Phantom, Emek)

07 Cyborg, black on black. SOLD for $370 firm. +$40 for a Matchstick kit to go with it. I think I have some clear OG Dye Stickies for it, NIB.

Droid, olive. Stock except grips. $350. SOLD.

2k2 Intimidator, unused by me. Just picked it up, but... priorities. Runs at 85psi if the gauge is to be trusted, volumized, Equalizer 2.6, really smooth shooter. SOLD

Coming from someone who loves all Borgs and Droids, I love that borg and that droid.

Totally different - spool vs poppet. The Cyborg feels like a sewing machine - quick, steady, but a little bit of pop to it. Like a smoother Vice, IMO, and makes a contemporary Ego feel very rough and loud. Can't speak to the newer stuff - post 2010. But it was the best up until the RX arrived, and by then I was mostly out of the scene. I've loaned it to friends on their first trip out and the results were awesome - just rolling on the trigger, locking down an entire tape line. The PBK trigger is a great improvement over stock - forgot to mention it on both.

The Droid is very bloop-bloop-bloop. Almost too smooth. The internals are very similar to the Macdev spools that followed, especially the Clone series.

I agree with flyweight nate. I think those triggers may be violent triggers though.

The droid is one of the last best most modern spool guns that you can use an aftermarket regulator on. It is small and compact and well made. It also has an actual on/off switch that won't turn to goo like some dumb rubber buttons from other MFG

The cyborg is the last modern spool made with the famous AKALMP merlin extrusion, extremely well made, insanely smooth for a no gimmicks spool. They just shred. Also has good on/off switch and not silly rubber buttons.

Both of these guns just work. I've had a bunch of both types.

I think they're PBK Scythe triggers, but it's been a while. All Delrin, though.

You bring up great points - standard reg threads, and the real switch. All-around good design decisions. The ram cartridge on the Cyborg is pretty clever, too. Nobody's confirmed, but are the rams titanium? They have the look, and the weight seems right.

Cyborg back up for sale. Great gun, but it's another 5 years before my son is old enough to play, which means it might be that long before I play again.
Matchstick barrel kit available to go with it - .685 and larger backs.

Pbk triggers are barely beveled mostly square edges.

Either way nice guns. I've never heard the rams called Ti.

Yeah, I'll take your word for it! Been ages since I've looked at changing anything on it.

I need to dig out the ram, put it on my coffee scale, then dip it in a beaker. It has that awesome stone grey color, so it's either titanium or a specially treated steel. Maybe nitrided lightly?

Edit: I measured and weighed the ram, and density is between 7.8 and 8.5g/cc and it's nonmagnetic and definitely golden-grey. Probably a brass alloy; the lack of patina tricked me into thinking it's greyer than yellow. Too heavy for titanium, though.

Been looking for a 2007 for awhile. Made an account just to comment lol. I realize this original post is like four years old but it looks like you commented a couple months back, is the cyborg still available?

I do still have it, sitting pretty on my pegboard a few feet away from my desk. Since you're new here, you won't be able to PM for a while. I'll send you a PM on how to reach me.
