I understand that you don’t realize how you sound but…trust me. What you just said is itself something that would turn a lot of people off from cockers. The fact that you needed multiple tries, guns, and tutorials from multiple people in order to achieve what nearly every other gun ever sold does out of the box…to a lot of people that is crazy. Like eating your own eyebrows crazy. Why do…any of that at all? Why “sweet spot a reg”? Ever? I know YOU have reasons. You like to tinker. Great. I guess a lot of people don’t. As a professional technician and a homeowner who can’t afford to pay other people to fix things I get quite a bit of tinkering action and I do enjoy it but I generally have sort of investment/payout ratio in mind. It has to be worth it. Cockers are just not worth it to me. The cost and the time needed are terrible.

How many Spyders does a person have to buy to get a perfectly functioning Spyder? The answer is one. How many tutorials are needed? Zero. This what is considered normal for a paintball gun. It’s true of the newest space dildo or the oldest PGP. They just work. Cockers do not just work unless a guru has wasted a case of paint setting it up first.

They are fantastic to shoot, way way too heavy but still fantastic to shoot. They are however like watching a vintage race car go up the hill at Goodwood. Ten guys spent 20 years restoring it for one flashy run at the hands of some dude so old he can’t even use it properly anymore.

As for why he’d spend $500 on a gun and then the SAME DAY move it on? Thats even crazier than you but like I said, it will only cost him $100. Thats way less than I had to spend before I realized I made a mistake and never want one because they are heart breaking time vampire money pits compared to Splatmasters, 98s, Ions, Mags, Nelsons or basically any decent gun.

It’s kinda like German cars versus everything else. You just better know what you’re getting into.

Did you buy it? I put a brand new bolt in it with new rings in it. All my guns reside in my garage. It was 20 degrees out when I put the new bolt in. I think the orings shrunk and they’re not broken in yet. Try smaller rings. It’s most likely that

I bought it. Going to pump it. Will try the rings first, to see if it can work. But it is getting pump’d sooner or later.

Whoa! I fix other peoples broken stuff for a living. NO desire to work on my own. This makes my third USED purchase of the year that be it intentional or not, was not in working order when it arrived. Add a a brand new marker to that for four. Call it the straw that broke the camels back. The other two used markers will be posted for sale as soon as they come back to me from being sent off to get worked on. Lesson learned for me. I have owned cockers that “just worked”. I am a big boy, buyer beware, John, enjoy it. Mason, appreciate the offer to take it back. All said and done, I want to put a few drops of oil in something before I air it up and wipe it down at the end of the day. I like midblocks/halfblocks, things that don’t cachunka in my face. Cockers probably aren’t for me anymore unless I can hold it in my hands and shoot it and see that it works. I have a couple modern mechs that just work and a mag, gonna stick with those and my CCM pumps that JUST WORK.

To be fair some of my tuned and ready to go autocockers sometimes just decide to stop working... and need small adjustments.
