Through holes with recesses for the screw heads at the bottom? Damn, that must indeed be old. The one on my 1995 mag had blind threaded holes on the top, for screws that came down through the frame and threaded into the ASA. Damned thing stayed on there for over 25 years too, as the Allen slots in the screw heads rounded out. Finally had to grind them out to get it off.

The Automag: Not as clumsy or random as an electro. An elegant marker for a more civilised age.

You're probably right and I've gotten it backwards by assuming yours is older. The one I have cannot be used at the bottom of the grip frame without an aftermarket adapter bracket. Yours would readily mount there, which seems to be quite an improvement.
