Are these the buffer washers? The ones that shield the rear cap from impact?

Correct, for the a5 and x7.

Unless they changed something and I have magically never gotten my hands on one with the changes, that part has been an o ring in the past. A 117 if my memory is correct. I've torn apart many many tippmanns and have never seen one of these inside
