    1986 Daisy

    Hi.

Originally, I had posted an appraisal request for her four years ago on MCB in the Pump Guns Area. Here's the link: https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forum/b...otch-appraisal

But I have decided to let her go to someone who will enjoy her.

Four years ago, I took her apart, cleaned and oiled her and she shot great with no leaks.

Since then, she has been stored in the house, in the holster.

She comes with an Uncle Mike's Sidekick camo holster and three tubes of (If my memory serves me correctly) pepperball paintballs.

    SOLD!

Here is a pic of the lot:

        "Quicksplotch 8007"?!? ".675 caliber"?!?

That is absolutely the first time I've ever seen either of those markings. Anyone know the story behind that?

Daisy manufactured all the Nelspots. I'm pretty sure the ATSM standard for a paintball lists the minimum size as .675 (but I can't seem to quickly google that), so I'm guessing that's what they went with? Possibly a European marking requirement. I'm thinking this was their European brand/version considering the link above has a German UMAREX advertisement from 1987 featuring this and a PGP?

Here's one in an Instagram post apparently from Germany: https://www.instagram.com/werkbank_u...l/DHEwss2NRht/

From "Paintball Weaponry" section in the book "Paintball - The combat Adventure Sport" by Richard Cooke published in 1991:

The original Nel-Spot Paintball gun was developed from a liaison between the Nelson Paint Company, of Iron Mountain, Michigan, USA and the Daisy Manufacturing Company. The result was the 'Nel-Spot', still going strong and manufactured by the same company, now a world leader in air gun weaponry.
The gun is listed as the "Nelson Quick Splotch - The predecessor of the Nelspot 007

I think I that's something else actually. This one does not have the reduced length feed tube shown above, and an 86 born date means it's well after the first Nelpots. I bet Daisy stole the name for thier later European release.

So that's what I was thinking too, and was going to post that, but didn't have anything to back it up. But that makes the most sense. Nelson had the rights in the US and Daisy sold it in the European market under a different name.

I also assumed the Quick Splotch model was a European export version since Daisy could only sell the marker to Nelson as the Nelspot in the US but could sell as their own Daisy Quick Splotch outside the UK.
              This example came from Norway:

And here is some more history on the earliest Nelspot models:

Since we’re discussing a Quick Splotch marker, I thought I’d chime in on one I picked up a while back. I believe I called Dan to see if he knew anything about this particular model, but I think he said he hadn’t heard of this model. It’s a Quick Splotch 8008. Anyone have any info on this model?
