I actually remember playing walk on games with Rob "Termite" Smith at Field of Fire in Santa Clarita, CA, back in 1989 or 1990. Tall blond, bearded guy who wore Tiger stripes and a wire mesh mask with Scott goggles. He was the reason I asked Earon Carter to build me a buzzard. I loved the aesthetics of the removable feed neck block.
Bill "Thunder Pig" Harvey worked with Earon back then, and they could be found playing walk on games at Fof on the weekends, along with players from Sudden Death, Those guys and that Gal mercenaries, and the Calif Bushwackers. At 18, I had no clue that I was playing with and against future legends.
The majority played 12gram, with a few calif style constant air set ups. Straight up CTF with everyone sneaking around in the bushes and scaring the heck out of ya with 2 shots to the head or goggles, in case the first didn't break. Those were the days...
