    Reliable marker?

Looking to get a marker that’s reliable. Electro OR both.
Maybe something a little newer than 2004 for a change.
I just want it not beat to hell and good out of the box. The flashier the better. Or… for a good price.

I basically need something for when I want to actually get in the game.

I have had literally 0 problems with my lv1.5 other than I used a battery for way to long and it died on me mid game (SG FL), I have taken that thing from coast to coast and had no issues

Just get a cheap used emek. This way you will be Les likely to sell it when you get board because is cheap.

You had that 170R you never even shot it.

I would get a PE marker tho. If I were to get an electo it would be an LV2 they are in the $800 range now and it’s the last of the EGO line. Probably one of my favorite platforms ever. The LV line do shoot really really nice. Like all PE markers they need good name brand fresh battery’s and they shoot amazing.

Last of the Ego line as in most current or they’re not making any more after the 2.0?

Yeah, get an emek or 3m.
Shoots good, super reliable, not expensive.

Add a good aftermarket trigger and barrel and it's a beast.
Need Inception Designs or Shocktech Products? Let me know!

Vintage Paintball are selling some refurbished ex rental Emeks for 189+ ship. Can't go wrong with a stock Emek.

If you want something to stand out of the crowd and instead want to stick with pre 2005, I love my AKA Viking. You can't buy guns from them but they're still kicking around and the used market isn't too bad right now. Had my used one for 10 years and I have yet to change an oring.

Since OP said electro or both, PE Etha 3 would be my recommendation. If a mech is needed later, an Emek or Etha 3M would be my recommendation.

I’m lazy, the Emek/Etha line is just easier to clean than the higher end stuff, and still offers competitive performance at a lower price point.

I love my M170R as a go to when I want to just play semi-automatic. It is really reliable and has required essentially zero maintenance beyond keeping it reasonably clean and checking the grease. They really have come down in price since I bought mine/traded for current one a year and a half ago. I would love to just say keep the N3 but I have found my N3 is just a little too particular on paint and way harder on the brittle stuff so the M170R gets more play then the N3 for sure (even stopped carrying the N3 as a default in my bag). I have not used the EMEK but given the similarities between them and the M170R and the large amount of positive comments I suppose it would be a great choice as well. I just like my markers primarily made out of metal.

I'm getting such a sense of schadenfreude from this thread.

You’re all pretty much suggesting what everyone previous to this thread had told me too. I shot binson a emek and it was a great marker.
I guess my issue comes down to the fact I can find an etha3m/emek for cheap, but by the time I add the fancy ID body, I’m back in the $800 range… and that feels silly for a lower end model.

…What a racket PE and ID have going!

I guess my point is. I hear your suggestions… anyone have a good deal on one… not black?

As far as my main shooters have gone that don’t involve tape in various places (rainmaker)…

Ive shot an NXT. RSX, and 05 Speed. I couldn’t stand the feel of the Amp- It felt crazy front heavy to me..
but I also have a sour taste in my mouth from Smart Parts selling me an 03 Shocker and it failing out of the box & no one could figure out why until I quit paintball and sold it off. ($1000 is an insane amount of money for a 14 year old.)

It seems as far as current markers go… it’s anything PE, Shocker Era (I’ve never even held), Luxe tm40 (never touched), Nova (I have in rotation), and…?

edit: I tested a field one- but hated the foregrip

I have an n1 I love and I’m selling an n3 now. Haha. Thank you though

As an alternative, you could get an Autococker and spend more on parts and upgrading than you spent on the marker in the first place. Then it will break, not just once, but one thing after another.

Seriously, I got a DYE DSR ( I paid $500) and it’s gone hard for 3 years, 2 super games and 4 paintball road trips. All I’ve had to change is the reg seat because I’m running a 800psi output tank pressure like a dumbass. ( I’m gonna take shims out soon though).
