    Machinist - Seized Screw Extraction

    Not sure if this is the correct subforum to post on but I'm looking for a good and trustworthy machinist for a screw extraction and thread chase/tap on a BL MVP frame. Too much torque applied and that is what I ended up with. Extraction using temp difference, extraction kits, and impact wrench failed. Figured I'd use a professional instead of doing something dumb and making the situation worse. Screw head will 100% need to be drilled for extraction, that's how bad I messed up. Any recommendations or direct contacts will be greatly appreciated.

      Which screw on the frame? Just a heads up also, generally it is easier for someone to get it out before an extractor is used than after. If you have the same issue happen in the future.

        Also keep in mind the MVP used a lot of weird proprietary screws.

        One of my biggest complaints when I had one was that the body the frame screws were so small and always would loosen up causing a massive leak.

          It's the forward Pump Rail Track to Frame screw. Pulled up the fastener from the manual and the threads are standard but it's the head that is custom. I've attached photos of my "amazing" workmanship at attempting to extract them. Think I'll reserve the extractors for only wood screws.

            If you can't find anyone else to take the work, shoot a me a PM.
            Also sometimes its worth buying a left handed drilled for extractions than one of those screw extractors.

              IMO, any and all screw extractors are a waste of time and money. Reverse drill bits work massively better. So do normal drill bits. Removing stuck screws honestly requires that you understand the nature of screws and how they get stuck, what’s worth doing (heat, almost always) and what isn’t (welding another head on, almost never) and it’s unlikely that some retail gizmo will compensate for lack of mechanical empathy.
