Slight hiccup on my timeline of things....

Only have half of the lathe table in prior to winter hitting. Planning to finish up in the spring.

    Meanwhile still offering digital design

-Just saw this, and I love it.

Years ago, before I started this biz, I threw together a parts-box Sniper, using a body a buddy had attempted to mill on a Smithy 3-in-1, and a pump handle I carved from the thick end of a broken pool cue. I didn't have a pump rod, so I found and straightened some thick fence wire, ran a die on one end and just bent the other in an L. I carved a groove in the pump to take the L, and taped the rod on with electrical tape.

I used a hand drill to bore the pool cue for the guide rod, and it of course unintentionally came out crooked. So when installed, the pump was clearly "bent" to the gun.

I seem to recall I had to do something with the pin for the bolt, too, as I didn't have a spare. I might have carved a small twig? Didn't own a lathe- or even know how to use one at the time- so I couldn't make one proper... Might have just run a zip tie...

When I realized how much of a trashbox it looked like, I added a few bits of duct tape here and there for effect, and I think I wrapped some baling wire around the elbow to make it look like I'd repaired it.

It really was an exercise in letting the intrusive thoughts win. I ended up letting the extra body go to a member here only because there was an actual true mess up on that and it didn't fit the final idea that I had.

        The mess up?

I ran the return path for the site rail radius back through the site rail making it a chamfer instead of a radius.

That bugged me just enough to not do anything with that one body however I'm still putting way too much effort and thought into how I want to finish this one pump I think I've changed the base level parts three or four times already. Originally my plan was to put all of the kind of screwball parts that I had left on it but when I put everything together and looked at it I went no no this doesn't look good.

I finally landed on doing a bit more of a period build and most of the parts now align with stuff that was being made 2001 and earlier. But other hobbies called during the winter times that never made it out for anno before I spent a lot of it's earmarked money on other things.

So like most of my projects is currently sitting in a plastic project box waiting for its day in the Sun

Making things on the cnc to test geometry out instead of printing... Going to just radius the corners on this and use it because I like the feel.
