      Posted this in the ebay find section. So thats what it is. Was it atleast a decent knockoff and actually worked?

              The Checkmate was kind of a knock off but not really. It happened when the two partners who were making Montneels called it quits as partners and one partner made some copies of the Mega Z but were never as successful or at the same quality as the original. So yea a knockoff

                  The checkmate is one of the more well regarded clones. I always wanted to mess with one to try to add an rva , I would think it possible...
                  Axel, back then there were quite a lot of Z clones. Nothing was patented and due to the aforementioned split between the owners, the design got sold all over. And of course Gino sent one to be copied. USI , too. Although theirs is probably the worst.
