Custom Mech Ion Project

Finally got around to start working on my mech Ion project. Special thanks to JeeperCreeper for the inspiration and to ChoSanJuan for the rail file! So far I have made the aluminum rail and frame, milled down the original frame to except my new 90 frame, and ordered the necessary mech parts from clippard. Unfortunately I broke the rail but should be able to tig weld it back together. I will track the progress of the build as it progresses.

Very nice. Also yes Mag rails work, but cutting an Ion grip up is way cheaper. They practically give these things away on ebay.

Eventually I want to get an Empire relay and get rid of the bottom line

My brother did that to his ion, and I bought one to do the same thing, although I want to use it for a magfed ion, but who knows when I'll get around to that...

I see a small trend @ChoSanJuan is bad for my wallet
I too am starting an mech ion build so far I have a deadlywind dti4 body, ion dx tube, axe frame and regulator (regulator is on the way), bolt is being milled for dual orings thank you @Myrkul for shipping, and fitting on order from clippard
also I am thinking of converting to single trigger

ChoSanJuan is a fount of inspiration. First it was Spumps after Bob White. Now it's Mech Ion's (Obviously I don't want to miss out on the fun so I've started one too). At this point I'm just praying to god he doesn't show up with a modded FN303 next year because neither my wife nor my wallet would ever forgive me for one of those builds......

KMDPB I love that you milled my STL! I hate to break it to you, I've got a better file (that hasn't been published yet...) that has eye/detent covers now if you are interested.
