    Dm# mechanical? Possible?

So I had this wild idea, I tend to like mechanical spool valves, but what about doing a balanced spool? I'm pretty familiar with the dm series and own a dm6, since the dump chamber seals itself from incoming air the system doesn't have to be dwell dependant.

So what about making a mech dm6? Attach a 3 way to the trigger, there's already an onboard LPR, barbs to the inputs for the noid.

    Anyone see any problems?

The dm5 has a manual button on the solenoid. So you link the trigger linkage to oust the button and it goes.

for the dm6 and up, an approach could be to shuttle the spool back and forth manually. You would need a plate and some small levers.

I told myself I will make my pm5 mechanical if I break the fragile eye ribbons. It should be pretty easy, unlike the Shocker SFT or Ion I don't believe anyone ever made a matrix bolt that doesn't turn off the air flow as part of the firing cycle so none of them should be dwell dependent for velocity.

Should be possible. I believe I heard a rumor that the original Gen E Matrix actually had a prototype mechanical grip planned for it that never went into production. This isn't mine, but I believe this means you can use an SMAV-3 to mech anything in the matrix line.....

Yes. There was a E(electro) matrix and P(pneumatic) matrix. The P matrix was scrapped because electros were the future of paintball.

I'm really surprised with the mech resurgence that dye hasn't had a mech offering for their dms

It would honestly be almost as simple as building a mech Ion, at least in theory. You'd need to tap the body or create a new manifold, then figure out how to mount your switch. But the Matrix and Ion function nearly identically.

Sounds like a dm5 may be my next electro if i dont go with an angel. Would be awesome to have a mech DM to go along with my rainmaker.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WEgqtRSpAw check it out, I think there is a mech-matrix in existence already

Browsing eBay the other day I came upon some gmek frames and it got me thinking about this same idea. If it had a normal rail on the bottom it might make for a good donor frame.
