Suggestions on how to make the quietest barrel possible.

I’m getting more into woods ball, and as my camouflage gets better and better, my gun has become the weak link.

I'm thinking of making the best muffler possible and looking for suggestions. So far I’m looking at:
    • 14 inch barrel, 8inch unported followed by heavy porting on final 6 inches.
    • either neoprene or Brillo pad muffler layer. Can’t decide if the neoprene would negate the porting.
    • ported outer shell layer to cover muffling material.
And I’d like it to not look like a turd.

Anyone have any more suggestions? I was thinking about extending the muffled section past the tip of the actual barrel, but I can’t decide if that would make it better or worse.

I filled an old a5 flatline shroud with expanding spray foam. Helped a bit. The trick is going to be in the porting and air escaping out the barrel. Might be able to take a raincover and add baffles or something to it?

I like the spray foam idea, maybe it could be applied and trimmed in a way that deflects noise back toward me through the exterior porting of the cover

Don't port the exterior of the raincover... port the back of it, to direct the noise back at you. Solid front, solid sides, ported back.

As for making it not look like hammered @$$... make thr raincover full length of the barrel, not just a stupid can hanging off the front. It's as easy as extending the shell backwards, like a shroud, that goes back to the threading of the barrel.
If you need to talk, I will listen. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as I get it.

I think the type of marker that you are using will make a bigger impact that any barrel muffler. A lot of the newer low pressure markers, like the Emek, are stupid quiet to begin with.

Let me make you something. I build pneumags, auto-response frames, and wooden pill cases.

I definitely agree with that. I’m planning on using it mostly on my sniper, because I’ve been running into situations where I’ll sneak behind a group of people and by the time I take my first shot, the others realize where I’m at and then I’m just stuck in a gunfight. So I’ve resprung that, and am running at fairly low pressure, and it’s comparatively quiet to where it was before.

to David Boren, I like the idea of venting out the back, and will probably go that route. I don’t think I’ll be able to go full barrel without the pump kit getting in the way, so I’ll have to make it a clean cutoff.

I’d like to have a slightly lower profile one, but that looks like the basic idea of what I’m after.

Co2 seems quieter than hpa in all my experiences. My unregged trilogy pump is super quiet on co2, even with my .678 Eigen barrel.

Try a 14" barrel, tight bore, with porting just at the last couple of inches. The unported section needs to be longer than what is needed for the shot to expand. While "suction timed" autocockers are kind of a novelty, they are very quiet. The barrel is a big part of that.

The Eigen barrel is pretty good for that, but the porting is a little long.

As far as I know, Lapco barrels have the heaviest porting at the muzzle. Or if it's possible, maybe a crown point? Those were designed to 'ease' the transition from barrel to air.

                      order this https://iisports.com/products/tac-5-...f85d1c98&_ss=r
change out the set screws for a little longer ones
Use electricians tape to fill the gap between the barrel and end caps
Go to hardware store for washable air filter
                      Assemble and enjoy

Years ago, something went through a variety of materials, and found that fiberglass pipe insulation, 3/4" ID works absolutely the best at reducing sound, compared to green scrubbies and foam.
He went so far to have it "tested" by the ATF who also found it to work very well... .and be legal to own "unregisterd" because the fragile nature of the insulation pipe made it not work with a firearm.

You can get it right at home depot, as long as you like. Slide it into a short barrel. I remember trying this, maybe with a 1" pipe? don't remember, but it indeed worked great.

You would get better results with baffles, wipes, and chambers.... but that is all entering a dangerous territory.

If you 3d print it it will never be strong enough for use on firearms ... So you're safe with the ATF

                            I don’t think that’s true
I don’t think you will be safe from the ATF because if it works once you broke the law without your tax stamp
