Cold pulls... oh yeah, baby. You know what I like.
So is that little nipple all you had adhered to the bed?
I dont know what a cold pull is.
The end of that was what was inside the nozzle. A cold pull is one way to "clean" the inside of the nozzle, in a sense. While your hotend is warming up, somewhere around ~100C, you pull the filament out of the print head rather quickly, and hopefully it all comes out nicely, and doesn't leave anything behind inside the nozzle.
You know you got a good cold pull when you can see the conical shape of the inside of the nozzle, and a little 0.4mm nub at the end (see the right hand side of the pic above). You can even see in this case that it cleared out some little carbon deposits with it.
Anyway, it usually does NOT come out this nicely when I try to cold pull. Usually, some plastic gets left behind in the nozzle, or it snaps off near the end.
I have the bigggggggggest PUCK i pulled out I still have to post... Will keep you in suspense..
Edit : that doesn't look like any cold pull i've ever seen. why does it fan out (the big bulge in the middle)? Is your nozzle worn inside? Been printing any carbon or particle fills like wood lately?
