I love how this has become some sort of a thing, as if people could just openly click enter and make these things.
I don't think this would necessarily affect the paintball industry mostly because the files that are out there and being distributed are kind of inert and don't translate well to firearms.
I'm curious what real effect this will have. I wouldn't be surprised if big names like Cody from DefCAD get in trouble with this, but will they really pursue the thousands of people that have posted/downloaded/printed files?
Otherwise, I expect it will be used as a special add-on threat for people they want to make an example of, kind of like the 18" barrel rule.
What stinks is throwing enforcement to a different bureaucracy because the others haven't done what the current politicians wanted.
I wonder when Autodesk will have to open their cloud files to government searches, if not already. I guess I don't mind the rules as much as how they were set and who will determine enforcement.
Hasn't computer code already been upheld as a first amendment right since programming language is language? Maybe I'm forgetting some details, but coding and free distribution of code should fall under that.
