Bambu Lab X1 Carbon

Have any of you guys gotten your hands on one of these yet? I've been tempted to build a big Voron 2.4 but I don't have a ton of free time right now and hesitate to add another project to my list.

This is starting to look like a pretty good option for a large-ish no screwing around filament printer.

Anybody have thoughts on this bad boy?

I just ordered it, so it will be weeks before I have any feedback. I just want to print cf filled nylon so I skipped the ams for now.

I've been lusting for this same printer. The creality K1 is a rip off version of the x1, and it's only 350 right now for black Friday. Yet I want to hold out to utilize That AMS.

in researching it, it seems you are better off buying the P1s and saving the 500 dollars vs the X1.

all that said. I'm hoping one of you has insights on it. As I'll likely buy myself one after Xmas.

Yeah, I'm looking real hard at that one too. That's a lot of printer for the money.

Ive done the math and the P1S is a better investment.

That P1S is what first caught my eye in the Bambu Lab lineup. Seems like a great value.

The lidar failure detection on the X1C is intriguing though. In my particular use-case it would be running overnight and unattended during the day a lot.

I bought an X1C about 3 weeks ago and it's amazing right out of the box. The ams unit is a nice addition for the multicolored print ability.

I pulled the trigger on one last night. Are there any consumables or other odds & ends you wish you had right from the start?

I'd recommend a textures PEI plate and a bunch of filaments. The printer itself comes with a spare hot end ,some extra wipers, filament cutters and a couple other odds and end. I bought the plate when i placed my initial order, if I hadn't, I would have gone and purchased it separately.

If you're into the look of things, there are some really nice textured plates you can get from AliExpress that will give you a carbon fiber pattern to the bottom layer.

Download orca slicer, in my opinion, it works better than the Bambu slicer. There's a lot of tutorials on YT about calibrating non Bambu filaments to your specific printer, it still uses the wireless printing feature.

I was given a 3D sys machine years back. I struggled to make it work. Later on i found out that they use a proprietary software thats no longer supported or available. I was enamored with the machine though and a year or so later i was job training in Cleveland and there was a microcenter just down the road, I went in one day after work and saw some open box printers. Those printers were the first ones I had exposure to while they were operating. I ended up going back before my training was over and got a creality 10s.

I struggled to get it to print though and at that point in time no one really liked to share tips or teach without being a douche so I set it aside until early this summer when i dug it out to see if i could print a pocket hopper.

I still hadn't had much luck aside from a few trinkets that would occasionally make it fully through printing. I got into a few forums and ended up trying painters tape on the bed as recommended by another user, sure enough I was finally able to produce items with increasing reliability. My time I had toiled away had given me some better understanding about other principals so it wasn't all bad.

When I was finally passing 9 out of ten prints successfully I tried again to get back into designing. Nothing was being retained, after I just played around more with cura I was beginning to get much better at manipulating existing programs and I decided to take the plunge on an x1 or K1 as they had essentially just both hit the scene. I wanted the K1 due to its price but the AMS option was too great for me to discredit. I opted to just wait a while and see who the market favored and why.

I'm really happy I waited as I changed my mind due to the K1 having issues. I looked at my 10s and decided I didn't want to continue those trials. So I made the leap to an X1c.

I can't tell you how glad I am that I did so.

I was now able to focus more on learning to design as my machine was reliable enough to set and forget

I have since picked up onshape to do my drawings in and im getting the swing of it. I ended up liking the machine so much that I now have four of them and I've been buying extra parts so that when the day comes that I do break something I can hopefully be prepared.

Seriously, Im pleased as can be with the X1.

I have the Creality K1. It's excellent, very fast, can't even compare the speed and quality to the old bed slingers. 3D printing has come a long way since I started in 2013.

I understand the Bambu P1P or X1 are very good fast printers.

I've been considering the new BL A1 since they announced it. Some of the A1 Mini reviews are very impressive, especially for a bed slinger.

I don't necessarily want another bed slinger, but I'm willing to make the exception for one that can print GOOD and FAST.

The X and P series are definitely cool, but after conversion it's practically double the price for the P1 vs the A1.

We'll see what 2024 brings.

We have been running the A1 Mini pretty much non-stop since it was delivered ~ 1.5 months? I am absolutely impressed with how well it simply works. Bambu Lab has earned the hype. They have earned the customer base. No other hobby/pro-sumer product in the sub $1500 range is even close to the quality of their products.

I grabbed the P1S with the 2 random spools when it was ~100$ off. I'm really impressed with how well this prints right out of the box. I have a Qidi Xmax which has always been a huge pain in the ass with print with and a 3/4 built Vzbot that I'll probably never finish, lol.

Generic profiles on this have worked great for TPU, PETG, and ABS so far.

Just found this thread on the funny pages , do the bambu series printers are beyond amazing , coming from creality 5 series , these are mind blowing . I've been making pb items for markers ( usually phantoms) . Most recent items are CF grip frames for phantoms . These printers are amazing . I design and print . 😉😉
