    Tigershark CF SC body

    Hi guys,

    I know little to nothing about 3d printing, or the programs to make the actual print files so bear with me. I'm basically wondering if the materials that 3d printers use are durable enough to make a tigershark body, and how complicated making the actual file for a tigershark body that's center feed and can accept a phantom sc feed would be.

    If it's feasible I'd love to invest in the creation for the right price!

    Doable, the plastic, if done right, should hold well enough.

      I figured as much, I can't imagine there are many tigershark print files out there to start with either. I don't really have any frame of reference for what it takes to make a 3d model, nor what programs are used.

      Are there any programs that are easy to learn on and free? I've got a laptop somewhere that I think still works and would be willing to give it a shot myself if it's a free journey lol

      i think fusion360 is free.
      I use solidworks, but it requires a license.

      i wouldn't say any of them are particularly "easy" it takes years to get good at them, but give it a go, its loads of fun and there is plenty of tutorials out there 👍

      I'll check it out. There's a decent chance my janky laptop restricts me, but I feel like it would be fun to learn

    If you have issues running actual CAD programs like fusion 360, you could try OnShape. It's mostly the same as any other CAD program but it's browser based and free. The one catch is that unless you pay them, all of your designs are public. Though I imagine that you might be able to name the file "squibbly octopus elementary school" and nobody would reasonably find it if they were dedicated enough.

      I've heard good stuff about it, but no personal experience with it.
      (The browser only thing turn me off ...)

      XEMON it's surprisingly decent, haven't noticed any significant lagging unless it's with super complicated parts in assemblies. Seems to run fine on the mediocre laptops our school provides us (4GB ram, integrated graphics on an intel i3)

    It’s as much the material as it is the process. Maximizing strength/durability with a 3D print requires an understanding of 3D printing processes and materials.

    It’s not impossible and a great thing to try but hurdles exist. An injection molded part is fully one thing because a liquid material was injected into a mold. A 3D printed parts is made up of hundreds to thousands of layers of material fused together over a long period of time.

    How should the part be printed on the bed to maximize strength due to the inherent weak point of layer lines?

    How should the part be designed (to be printed) to minimize said layer lines weakness

    How should the part be designed (to be printed) to minimize material waste and time?

    What is the optimum material to use to maximize strength, print time, printability, different machine capabilities, cost, etc?

    Does the person with the skill to do this also have the time, desire, required thing on hand to reverse engineer?

    These are just a few questions.
