    45 grip block question

I have a few older guns with m16/lonestar style grips but I would prefer to update them with 45's and also use a standard bottomline ASA. Will something like this work? Any other options of note? TIA!

Yes, it's a very common choice. The one thing I don't like about it is that the grip is just a touch too long if you use grips with finger grooves. The space between the trigger frame and the next finger is really 1.5 fingers wide.

It should. There is many tolerances when it comes to lonestar style grips. So depending on the shooter and or the grips some filing may be required.

The 45 grip I put on the cool cat is a phantom grip. It doesn't sit flat against the tang perfectly, but once you start the screw it'll lock into place where it wants to be.

I also put a rtr gargoyle grip on my puma years ago. The puma has a longer tang than the standard grips, so I had to machine it some. After the fact, I sold that grip to myrkul, and he had to further machine it to fit his ICD cat.

I'm fixing to give her away for walzmas, so keep your eyes peeled. Though, I keep taking it to the fiend and shooting people with it. It's quickly grown on me. Gonna be a hard giveaway.

    Yes, but....

The original phantom 45 block is not parallel on the top and bottom for only reasons Mike Cassidy would know. If you slap a bottom line on it, the tank will point up about 10 degrees. Maybe only an esthetic thing, not great for CO2 of course unless you are trying for lots of liquid. They used to sell a mini wedge thing. That's why my own class phantoms would sport ICD 45 blocks back in the day.

Tippmann ASAs have juuuust the right angle to put the tank level. (Or dang close to it.)

it was the style at the time, as most people were using co2 tanks and generally preferred the not-hunched-over posture.

I always wished Mike/CCI would have designed the 45 block to be flat on the bottom, and the vert ASA to truly be vertical and not angled back
