Hello everyone, just wanted to share my experience with reviving a bunch of my old GOG/SP markers using the trick provided in the video here.
The entry-level GOG/SP markers (such as GOG G1/SP SP1, GOG eXTCy, GOG Envy, SP Vibe, etc.) are notorious for the old solenoid caps cracking, which then produces a large leak. Many note the cracks being very small/hairline and also occurring on where the screws thread in.
The factory solenoids and solenoid caps are no longer produced and are very hard to find. Any that are still out there are also susceptible to the same crack/leaking issue. To add to that, you'd be very hard pressed to find any of these GOG markers out there for sale without the same leaking issue.
Because of this, it had made all of my old GOG markers useless scrap until I found out about this mod to get them back up and running.
Very happy to report I now have x2 GOG eXTCy's, a GOG Envy, and a Smart Parts SP1 all working good, no leaks from using Dye Rize solenoid caps. I also utilized the Dye solenoid armatures on each of them and all are working well!
Not sure the longevity of these Dye solenoid caps, but thought I'd share my experience as these GOG/SP markers are all great shooters when not leaking, very soft on paint. You can get these Dye Rize solenoids for $40 new, but I'd recommend finding a used one or broken one you can salvage the cap from. Shout out to the gentleman that found this out and created the informative YouTube video. I hope others are able to learn from this!
