Hopefully the videos are helpful. I can answer any other general questions you have. Well, lots of people here can.

If you decide you want to do it and need to buy parts, I believe that Ryan Mingo still sells them. He's in all the Automag Facebook groups, so you can contact him there. I'm not sure if he has an account here. You can still find all the parts without Ryan by buying direct from various places, but it's cheaper to go through him because it's a one-stop shop. Less shipping costs that way.

The MAC-33 is just another valve I found that's slightly better than the MSV-2 in few different ways. The trigger stroke is shorter, and it has a built-in QEV. Unfortunately, I am not selling those valves anymore. I've run out of stock, and my previous supplier for the MAC-33s went out of business. So, I would use a MSV-2.

Don't worry. MSV-2s are still very good. But you need to do a little more work to get the most bang for your buck. You really need trigger stops (I'm pretty sure one of the videos covers how to do this), and you want the hose between the valve and the piston to be as short as possible so the piston resets faster when you let go of the trigger. Otherwise just follow the steps in the videos.

I'm not worried about some drilling and threading. I don't have a CNC by any means but holes and threads are not new territory for me

Nope... well answer is actually “kinda”.. they aren’t produced en masse anymore and just stocked. You can order them from a Mac dealer and they are built to order but with an absolutely terrible failure rate.. however there is a newer generation of them out now.. the 35 series and those are starting to be stocked online

I don't think that the 35 would fit inside any paintball marker frame.

I got my first 33 from eBay. They do pop up occasionally, so if you do a saved search with some notifications, you could get lucky that way. You can also use MAC-43s. They're a little bit bigger, but they still fit inside most frames.

If you don't want to wait around for eBay, you need to order from a MAC valve distributor. I was lucky enough to live near Hartfiel Automation for a while, and I could drive over and order a few solenoids from someone there. After they shut down, however, I went to the distributor list on the MAC valves website, and I started calling each place one by one. Most of them wouldn't work with me because they had minimum order requirements, but eventually I found someone who would sell me a few. They wouldn't do a special order for me. I had to wait until I could piggyback my order onto a bigger one they needed to make. Sometimes that would take a few months. But it worked eventually.

If you decide to go that route, you will need to provide them with a specific item code. The version you want is 33A-AAB-RDCA-3BA. All the versions are essentially the same valve with slightly different solenoid or lead configurations. Since you're don't use the solenoid part for the pneumag (you just throw it away), I've chosen the version that's the cheapest.

After that, you will also need 1/8" ID hose and M3 fittings. I used Beswick M3 adjustable elbow fittings (M3LS-1016-ENP) and straight M3 fittings, one of each. (I know the adjustable elbow fittings cost a lot more than standard elbows, buy you really need that adjustability when you're installing this inside a frame. You don't have the space to have a hose coming out at an odd angle.) You can use their hose as well (MUT-1332), but I seem to remember they sell it in rolls of 100 feet, so you probably want to get the hose elsewhere. Fortunately, any Autococker hose will work.
