    Utilizing my luthier skills....

So long story short, I'm a luthier these days. Heck, I was head hunted for a job. In Vermont.

Anyway, this is the first grip I've done, purely with hand carving.

Not done, I'm currently planing the thickness down, then gluing the other piece of purple heart on. Then shaping to fit my small hands.

Just wanted to share the work so far.

One of these days I'll get back to working on the KP stroker stock...

    Really cool project!

I also build guitars, but its mostly a hobby for me. I have made a couple acoustic and electric 6 strings, But my favorite ive made is a Solid body 3 string cigar box guitar, 25'scale, Homemade Handwound Single Coil in the neck, and a Handmade Humbucker in the bridge, Super growly and fun to play.

I make my own Pickups and 9v amplifiers as well.

You make your own pickups? That's really cool, are they piezo or magnetic?

Magnetic, I make the bobbins from stainless screws or Iron rods, and pieces of hardwood, and use a custom winder i made from a drill and a RPM counter, I wind each coil approc 10000 times with Magnet wire, and use a Neodymium magnet on the bottom, The humbucker is esstentialy two single coils made the same way, wired together, with opposing polarities, I even wax pot them in beeswax and parrafin on my stove haha

Here are couple 6 strings ive done, A 1932 pattern L-00 and a Telecaster, The telecaster pickups are store bought. everything else hand made, and shaped. The L-00 i made all my own forms from plywood, and radius dishes from MDF and a router, That was a experience haha, And uses fiberglass driveway markers from dollar store as traditional clamps. Bend the Birch sides using a kitchen kettle and garbage bags and alot of swearing lmao.

My guy - you need to do some build threads on this stuff. Very cool.

Not a professional by any stretch, just a hobby wood worker and machinist, but I do love some purple heart. Looks like a damn good start to a nice project. For street cred, here's some that I did for a nelson out of some salvaged 100+ year old unidentified wood.
