Blazer Barrel Detent Method?

Back in the day, I had a buddy turn down a BOA barrel for the Blazer 2K. I am thinking I would like to put a detent in it like the factory brass barrel shown. Any suggested? My assumption is that the barrel would need to be supported so it does not collapse or deform.
