    Metadyne Havoc Regulator Delete

    Anyone ever done so?

Have a Havoc gen 2 with an extremely temperamental regulator.

The simplest route would be JBwelding the adjustment hole, bottom relief hole, and rear relief hole, and adding a Palmers or similar 1/8 to 1/8 Regulator.

The expensive route is send the body to a machinist and have them plug/weld the bottom relief, tap the back relief and plug it, and make a holeless front plug that threads in.

    Suggestions or tips?

I had to think about this as well due to rockets being blown apart at random times. The challenge that I couldn't answer easily was which regulator to use, that can achieve down to 180-200 psi.

I was able to resolve the regulator issue by replacing all the o-rings in the regulator section (using color o-rings) and giving a light scrubbing (using a nylon brush that was used to clean baby bottle parts) to the inside of the regulator housing. If you haven't tried already, it might be worth a try.

There is also a Facebook page for the Metadyne Havoc, and most users were experienced and shared their thoughts. A suggestion is to look there for a forum on your question.

Have dug pretty deeply in the owners group, only one post mentioning "deburring, or polishing" the reg chamber, will be giving this a shot with some shotgun brushes and light compound. Seeing these units makes me wonder what Metadyne's daytime work looks like.

Another idea is to use an Airsoft HPA regulator. Some are adjustable below 200psi. The HK Army one goes to 150psi. You can run the air lines direct to the ASA. And if remote isn’t to your liking, maybe mount the bottle to the Havoc rifle stock

Didn't get any photos of the process. I went the quick and dirty route. JB weld in the reg chamber and outside to seal the pressure relief holes, and some in the adjustment cap and rear relief hole. Then it was as simple as plumbing in an ASA and reg. Can run like this as a stand alone. Or I have an female ASA to male ASA regulator I can put in between the tank and reg and cut out the Messiah reg.
