I think im boned (tap question)

Ive got several tap wrenches however I cant find them. Can I put my item into a drill vise and chuck the taps into my drill press and use the chuck un powered to run it? Im going about an 1/8 of an inch into a tube and the tap is maybe .2 with a fine pitch thread.

Yes you can, I do it all the time to make sure what I'm threading is straight.

Same. Works great. For really small diameter or fine thread taps, remove the drive belt from the spindle (if you can) so you have less turning resistance and can feel it better. It's a great option.

I ended up making a T handle out of petg with 50% gyroid fill, 4 walls and .375 diameter. It accommodated the .15 square hole quite well.

I bought a chuck for my ratchet to use them. Works great just have to keep it straight so you don’t break the tap. Those T handles blow and get in the way half the time.
