Anyone got advice on a cheap polymer stock I can cut up? I'd hate to buy a nice chassis and completely screw it up. Especially because I've never actually done a Hammer 7 setup like this.

I would recommend checking out the Hammer 7 Owner Club FB page for other's pictures.
Outside of that, it would help to know what you want to do, ie, stock magfed, DAM magwell, tube fed or hopper, and what style you want.
The L96 airsoft stock is great for Dye Dam magwell conversions (Look up Zak Sky King) while your VSR10 bodies (M24 style stocks) are more suited to the stock magazines but have more material to cut. M14 stocks are also really good.
