also thinking of using it as the "barrel" essentially turning it into a reciprocating barrel system ... But there may not be enough room in there for that ...

Edit: if anyone wants their insert chopped up to match standard bolt, shoot me a PM šŸ‘

        Late entry here...
So since the rules are up for interpretation, I'm going to assume that my box of disassembled markers in the closet counts as "scrap parts you have on hand"... yes?

          Who cares? Break the rules.

I'm not in this contest, so I have no skin in the game. But for a competition where "yeah, go ahead and cheat" is in the rulebook, y'all care too much about keeping within the rules.

The scenario is that you are a 17 year old looking to build a badass marker and it just so happens that your father has a closet full of paintball parts that's an exact replica of things that you currently have on hand

Anything that you need to purchase is added to your total not counting the first Carver 1

Got an idea for super duper janky/wired pneumatic trigger system 🤪
I'm sure there is a reason no one does it that way 🤣

              Official notice:
Open to service (cutting off the 50 cal insert into 68cal bolt) for parts (I'm gonna need a few 3 ways and maybe rams ...)

Since the .50 cal cat is out of the bag, any chance someone could post a pic of the pieces Tippmann used to make this 50 instead of 68? Just trying to plan ahead.

Ok, so just crack open the clamshell and remove the insert and replace with a stock bolt + barrel?

                  Pretty much šŸ‘
The 50cal kit does use the standard 68cal barrel and the insert reciprocate inside the barrel

I am 3 for 3 on needing to drill out screws (yes, plural on each marker) to get the markers I ordered open. Luckily I have a decent supply of 98 Custom screws laying around!

Same. It didn't help that I tried to use a power driver. So yes, soak them if they are even a little stubborn: they don't have strong sockets.

The lower screw on the opposite side of the feed neck had to be drilled out on mine. Before i disassemble the 3rd gun, i'm gonna pre-soak the bastard!

We’re commuting each day, and today is a full work day for me. Will chat w you after the main event tomorrow. I have a good idea of what needs to be done and will need to do some test fitting when I get it home. I’ve got a fun Sleeper idea in my head but will need the gun to know if it’ll work out. The .50 conversion pieces shouldn’t make a difference either way since I have tons of 98 spare parts.

Got mine apart without much fuss, except that cursed tippann valve design. I was hoping to modify the 50cal bolt for 68cal but that thing.... that thing is coming out. Rest of it's going in the dishwasher when the better half isn't looking. Anyone else notice the 'bolt face' pin bashing into the power tube?

The power tube and valve outer body seem like thin plastic. Mine had severe damage from the cross pin of the 50 cal insert slamming into it like your pictures above.

BrickHaus the only tippmann stuff i have is an original SL-68 at the moment. Once I build up these Carver's, I doubt i'll ever have another Tippy.

Since the dents on the tip of the power tube were exactly half a circle, I thought they were intentional and a cheap way to build a .50 Cal breech face.

That might also be the thickness of a hammer bumper that is no longer there. (?)

I finally got to see some first impressions of people seeing these markers for the first time at supergame when the people picking up in person were getting theirs. The dismay was fantastic.
