    Maggy Moo's Poo Build

My box came in and I'm very happy with the assortment of crap I received.

Naturally everything is grimy and needs a long bubble bath. But I got all the extra pieces I need to take some risks. I won't give away my full plan, but to start I want to cut down the engraved body down until it's basically just a spacer and detent cover. Or maybe I'll tap the body for some other detent (SFT perhaps?). The extra black body has an inner body too, and with it I'll try mounting a 2 hole spyder feedneck. If I'm feeling really ambitious, I might try making it right feed instead of vert. The second trigger frame will allow me to try my crazier idea, but that's for later. Might be easier to start with that 3d printed frame Rainmaker posted.

I definitely want to come up with some sort of hard trigger stop, to reduce the risk of damaging the trigger rocket. I kinda want to try a double trigger too, but we'll see. Also going to see if I can salvage my grips, but I'm not overly hopeful. It seems they changed the thread on the back caps though; the extra I got doesn't thread into any of the bodies I have.

The red gun and extra green body are going to a friend of mine. He's going to unofficially participate in the PoP challenge as well.

EDIT: wanted to make a quick note that the black gun gasses up and holds air without issue. Too late in the evening to test fire though. Red gun leaks but I haven't ID'd where from.

I think there are a a few changes. One of the bolts I got is basically an ion bolt. Black anodizing, and thicker tail shaft.

Yep, I got one of those too. It's also a little bit longer too, so likely not interchangable.

The oring configuation changed. The v1s and v2s dont have inerchangable bolts. V1 enmies can use old ion bolts like a L6, skeleton or firebolt.

Guess I should make/keep a running tally of parts added and all that.

Black gun: mostly complete. Missing reg collar c-clip, sourced from extra reg. Grips are trash, need to be replaced.
Red gun: mostly complete. Missing frame screws and grip screws, sourced from my random screw bin. Grips are trash, need to be replaced.

I just bought an Evil Pipe barrel on Ebay for ~$30 shipped.

        Argh.

So, I took the trigger frame off the red gun to track down the leak. It is coming from the valve... Directly from the hole the rocket pokes. Ok, well, guess I have to take it apart. One screw comes out no problem, other screw rounds out immediately. Tiny screw, so none of my extractors can get it out. Over the course of an hour, I a few different ways to get it out, and eventually decide to try cutting the head with a hacksaw so I can use a flathead.

Surprisingly, that worked!! I managed to get it out. Pulled the valve apart, which is a first for me. Inside there was a washer and a dirty o-ring... cleaned out out, greased the o-ring, put it back together, nothing. Hmm. The more I thought about it, the more I had a sneaking suspicion something was missing.

I tested the black gun, which as previously mentioned holds air. Gassed it up, pulled the trigger, it cycles properly. So I pull it apart, open up the valve (thankfully without any issues). Yuuup, there's more crap inside.

Here's what's supposed to be in there:

Here's what's in the red gun:

No little disc, the valve armature. I already knew based on my gen1/gen2 valve research today that replacement valves are basically nonexistent. I did find the armature itself for sale..... in Australia. Shipping would be ~$22, for a $3 part.

Soooooo yeah, I'm a little frustrated. If anyone has any better options, I'd love to hear it.

BrickHaus that's a $30 part, and I'd need to figure out how to mount it and how to plumb it. Kinda defies the point.

Fair. Guess the next option would be print those two pieces? They rubber I assume? Tpu may work.

And ai literally took mine to the basement, so forgive my ignorance. Im loading my truck for a road trip now.

If you are feeling crafty you could use a old stock cocker 3-way (the kind that captures the actuating rod) and a little spring.
Those old ones are usually cheap really cheap or free, or you might have one in a bin. They are not desirable for cockers at all these days.

I think this is the $3 part from Australia with the $22 shipping that was mentioned.

autococker04 did say he kept around 4 valves should any be DOA. That may be your best bet at this point

Just because it helps the trigger feel AND reliability of these so much I would be in favor of people using them and having it not count against their parts total, but that's just my $0.02

Wanted to take the trigger valve out oy my black gun and put it into the red, so I could test the rest of the gun's functionality. Instead, the input barb on the trigger valve sheared off. Now I'm even further away from having two working guns.

Edited to add, I swapped the valve armature into the red gun's valve, and got the red gun up and running. It had an issue where the bolt would not move when the trigger was pulled, and the trigger would just vent as long as it was held. Swapping the bolt assembly from the black gun, it fired properly. So I started swapping each individual component (bolt, bolt stop, can, rear cap) until I found the part causing the issue. Oddly, it was the rear cap. Eventually I realized it was the frontmost o-ring on the back cap causing the issue. It was no longer sealing, meaning air from the dump chamber was making its way into the sail area. Sail area doesn't fully vent (and continues to vent as the valve is held open), bolt doesn't move. Replaced that o-ring and it's good to go.

I'm waiting to hear back from a couple people who might have some valve assemblies (though I'm not terribly hopeful). In the meantime, I might tap the broken valve body and use a normal barb. I'll still need the armature, but worst case scenario I'll just order from Australia.

Second edit, I threaded the valve body for 6-32 (closest size to the existing opening, also didn't want to drill it out any larger for structural reasons) and now I'm having trouble finding a good barb. The hose leading from the VA to the valve appears to be a 5mm OD, 4mm ID hose. Closest I could find on mcmaster (I forgot how bad that website is btw) is 6-32 for a .17" tube ID (~4.3mm) but it has a max pressure of 125. That's probably too low... Also $10 for one fitting (before shipping!!) is pretty lousy.

Barrel arrived. I picked up a 12" Evil Pipe with a .683 back from iisports on ebay for ~$30 shipped. Yesterday, a buddy of mine (who took the red gun) 3d printed some grips and a trigger (the same one everyone else is doing) in PLA+. Would have prefered petg, but the store we went to had a limited selection so this should suffice. The color matches the barrel tip very closely. The grips are a bit blocky, and the screw spacing is a bit off so I might modify them a bit and reprint them. My buddy printed a few of the triggers in different colors, and they've all turned out different. The first one in black was about the same as the stock trigger, but fit really tight in the grip and didn't work very well. He did a clear petg one, that one fit better but felt about the same length. This silver one, for whatever reason, takes up some of the extra travel and fits perfectly. I didn;t think I'd end up actually using it but it feels great.

At this point, I have one complete and fully functional gun. If I can figure out how to use Fusion 360 I'd like to do a new body and possibly even a trigger frame, but that's contingent on getting the model the way I want it.
