I looked at this because I thought they were selling really dirty Umarex HDR .68 cylinders. Now that I've looked at the pictures...
- Did he dust wet paintballs with cayenne pepper?
- Did he make a mold to compress pepper into a badly shaped ball?
- Did he make pepper dough and hand roll it into a ball?

This is not how pepperballs work.

The HDR68 is being sold as a self defense thing. People are modifying them to shoot Teflon coated Steal BB’s valve mods have them shooting +425FPS. BookFace has hyped these things up so they have gained popularity as people are now realizing how hard it is to actually purchase a pistol. This is sold as an alternative.

To me it sounds like a good way to get shot. They are big in Europe to.

oh there's all kinds of neat dangerous projectiles you can launch from an paintball gun on ebay. this type projectile for defense you are getting one shot to buy time to get away and nothing else. shoot a solid slug out of a PCP airgun if airguns are only option IMO.

I just think it’s a bad idea. Lots of people bring video game / social media knowledge to the table when it comes to guns. You pull this out in a situation other then a paintball field you are likely to end up dead. I know I’m not going to hesitate and I know exactly what it is. Airsoft runs the same risk they also aren’t being sold as a self defense. Some kid points this at the wrong person it could go super bad quickly especially today. Shoot someone with this on the street your going to jail if you live threw it.

My kids know proper gun safety. But the average person buying a HDR whatever. I can guarantee doesn’t.

Anyone that carry’s this for self defense is a fool.

federal law loophole that says any airgun isn't a replica firearm so they don't need colored barrel tips, etc. and can legally look like real steel. it's why i don't shoot magfed, cop pulls you over for speeding sees an AR stock sticking out of your gearbag....

my neighbors know i shoot airguns and paintball markers and do so responsibly so if they see me waking out the front door with a carbine they think nothing of it anymore.

although my new not so friendly neighbors saw me unloading tac gear i use for stock class out of my truck one morning. they don't walk their dog past my house anymore lol.

i think most of the pepper will just be blow off the ball as its fired. Looks like a mess to handle.

why not just get the real thing. Pure cap' fine powder filled balls...

this looks like a mess. and yeah, as some have already stated; if they pull this on someone whos actually carrying, it could get real bad real quick.
also, not being an actual firearm isnt going to help you in court. if the reasonable assumption is that its a real firearm, it can be tried as such.

If you use this and it’s not justified you will be charged with assault. It will be hard for them to prove the “with a Deadly weapon” part. But if you pull this on a person and they return fire with real rounds you will be dead and they will be justified depending on the circumstances surrounding altercation. It would be easy for a lawyer to prove a person believed their life was in danger if you pull what looks like a real gun on someone. Again these are terrible self defense choices. All the trouble of a real gun without the ability or reliability to save your life.

Real Pepperballs are LEO only in a lot of states and they are super expensive because the majority are purchased 3rd party AKA Tax dollars ($44.99 for 10). You could by the plastic shells and fill your own that are made out of the same material FS makes there rounds out of in fact pepper ball offers shaped projectiles filled with OC now. Honestly a Teflon coated steel ball at 450fps will probably be a better deterrent than the pepper balls. The payload it so little they are not effective unless you shoot the face. You would 100% be better off with a simple can of bear spray and getting max OC content you can get available in your state and a T-ball bat. Keep in mind using OC or any kind of pepper spray fog liquid expect to be exposed to it and make sure you can function on it otherwise you can incapacitate everyone including yourself. It makes mess and people react to it differently. Some panic and rage out, some like mental health bug outs it don’t even effect, some it drops like a sack of potatoes. It’s not always effective and should never be relied on to save your life but it’s better than nothing I suppose. Pepper balls homemade or not make terrible self defense devices. Might scare some people off in the moment could otherwise cause and armed person to fire back within real rounds, at the same time everyone knows the sound of a Shotgun chambering a round nothing says wrong house like it. Nothing says GTFO like a shotgun there are lots of great less than lethal rounds for the shotgun that are much more effective as well. 870 it’s going to be much more reliable and it can be used to put food on the table if need be.

agreed with everything above.

i have a can of mace in both cars (liquid); as it would be an easier decision to react 1st without the fear of taking an innocent life, legal fines, murder charges, and everything else that goes along with it.

there are MUCH better options than home made pepper balls.
